Job ID: HITS03121010 Boundary Protection Security Specialist - Montgomery, AL - HITS03121010 Description: Boundary Protection Security Specialist Job Code: HITS03121010 Job Description: * Responsible for overseeing intrusion detection, boundary protection and vulnerability assessment operations to defend the Air Force Network (AFNET). * Identify unknown or unauthorized sources which attempt to access the AFNET and, when such attempts occur, the team notifies the appropriate AF agencies. * Provide senior level interface between AFCERT?s NetD operators and the 24th Air Force leadership. * Monitors, operates and maintains intrusion detection systems, firewalls, load balancers, and web proxies? servers to protect AFNET resources from both internal and external threats while conforming to DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG). * Configures Access Control Lists (ACLs) to grant and restrict network access to authorized users and processes. Several other tasks such as monitoring firewall management software and configuration of firewalls occur on a regular basis in order to stay ahead of any possible intrusion activities. * Provide management and configuration of the security devices in the Gateways, the IMS, and local LAN boundary (both SIPR and NIPR) * This is a shift work position. Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic or computer engineering; computer science; or a related field and 5+ years experience, of which at least 2 must be specialized experience including Sidewinder firewall, Bluecoat Web proxy, Cisco FWSM, Cisco ASA, Cisco CSM, Cisco Router Access Control List, SourceFire IDS, and Load Balancers. Master's degree and 1 year specialized experience as detailed above. Three years of applicable experience may be substituted for degree. * Strong non-degree candidates with advanced IT industry experience will also be considered. * Ability to interact with various teams and government clients. * CISSP certification. Preferred Additional Skills: * Prior experience working with USAF NOS preferred. * Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities. This position requires the candidate to already possess an active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred) and to maintain the clearance.
