GENERAL FUNCTION:
Maintains, installs and repairs television program origination and transmission equipment with minimal assistance and supervision. Serves as lead technical resource to insure sound transmission of signals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates expertise in setup, troubleshooting, repair and operation of complex, significant pieces of equipment critical to on-air operation, such as the Video Servers, Router, Radio Transmission and Control Room Boards.
- Possesses strong understanding of detailed signal flow through the technical facility including the control rooms, edit suites, primary and backup air paths for all TV and Radio signals.
- Performs all transmission related functions including the set up of complex temporary facilities.
- Provides leadership when interacting with producers and crew chiefs in troubleshooting, designing and implementing complex technical operations.
- Follows trouble report procedures and sets repair priorities in consultation with supervisor and operations crew chiefs.
- Identifies malfunctions and performs component-level repair of majority of plant equipment without supervision.
- Designs and builds complex technical projects without supervision. Follows and creates detailed technical diagrams related to plant systems.
- Works with supervisors to suggest and implement equipment and procedures to assure highest technical quality and standards.
- Follows purchase order procedure and contributes to budget process.
BACKGROUND/SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree, technical degree or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience.
- Minimum of five years of related experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues using acquired knowledge and written references as necessary, and to prioritize work in television plant operations.
- Demonstrated broad knowledge of installation, operation, maintenance and repair of television origination and transmission equipment as well as an in-depth knowledge of signal flow and routing.
- Proven logical, organized thought process with the ability to apply these traits to novel situations.
- Strong communications skills
- Able to work overtime.
- Able to lift 40 lbs.
