Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the Broker/Dealer legal entity ledgers and related regulatory reporting in order to maintain the integrity and accuracy of the financial records. This position has responsibility for the firm's compliance with applicable net capital, recordkeeping and other financial and operational rules. The scope of this role covers the Bank's two broker dealers, StanChart Securities International, located in Miami, and Standard Chartered Securities (North America Inc.), located in New York

Key Roles Responsibilities

• Ownership of the accounting of BD books, ledgers and records, including governance over all accounting entries and month end process, including Balance Sheet and PL reviews.
• Reporting to management any variances and closely related items in a timely manner, and in compliance with company policies, including variance analysis as needed.
• Prepare and submit financial management reports as required.
• Prepare and submit as required any related regulatory filings.
• Work closely with all related and non-related parties to achieve Finance objectives.
• Contribute toward process improvement though implementation of new systems, elimination of non-value added work and streamlining of functional procedures.
• Understand and remain current with the applicable federal and state securities laws and regulations, and rules relating to financial and operational responsibility.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Skills

• 7+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience required (Audit and/or Internal Control experience a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in the brokerage business required (dealing with a clearing broker a strong plus) including securities license requirement (Series 27 at a minimum, if candidate does not currently have, then prompt licensing after hire is required).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• High proficiency in systems and IT tools like MS Office, Quickbooks, etc. (experience with PeopleSoft GL a plus)
• Effective in driving results, delivering on objectives under pressure and with tight multiple deadlines.
• Abililty to build and maintain relationships with internal partners and stakeholders, establishing strong personal credibility and confidence levels.
• Good communication skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in all forms with all levels of the organization. This includes the ability to draw upon subject matter expertise to articulate key messages in a clear and thoughtful manner in order to obtain results.
• Proactive and capable of working efficiently with a high degree of autonomy.
• Ability to demonstrate the Bank's values in achieving objectives
