BUDGET AND FISCAL ADMINISTRATOR

The Office of the Executive Administrative Dean seeks an individual with expertise in financial management and projection, superior organization skills and excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to fill its available position of Budget and Fiscal Administrator. The Office of the Executive Administrative Dean assists and advises the Tufts Community Union (TCU) Treasury with their financial responsibilities and ensures that the TCU Treasury and student organizations are adhering to University, Treasury and federal regulations.
The Budget and Fiscal Administrator performs a wide range of financial and accounting responsibilities and serves in frontline administrative roles coordinating the day-to-day operations of student organizations. The Budget and Fiscal Administrator also serves an advising and mentoring role for students as it relates to assisting them with their financial needs. The Budget and Fiscal Administrator is responsible for:
- general financial administration, including accounts payable and reimbursement functions;
- bank reconciliation;
- review of general ledger information;
- maintaining accurate accounting records;
- following up on outstanding checks;
- and preparing financial reports.
The Budget and Fiscal Administrator works closely with students and members of the Finance Division/Campus Life to ensure the accurate processing of financial data into the Peachtree Accounting and the successful execution of processes and jobs. He/she must be able to effectively explain Treasury practices to student signatories. She/he must also seek continuous improvement in operating procedures and internal controls in order to minimize the operational risk. The Budget and Fiscal Administrator must maintain customer focus at all times to minimize inconvenience to both staff and students, keeping the students informed of the status of their requests.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience
- Must have strong technical skills in Windows and be proficient with the Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new software applications quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and tasks within demanding deadlines
- Superb organizational skills and must have strong analytical, problem solving, and written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, customer services, organizational, critical thinking, and attention to detail are required
- Ability to document the processes, to quality control data, and to analyze and troubleshoot problems, to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and students
- Ability to work in a team environment and work independently with minimal supervision
- Must possess a good working knowledge of budgets and accounting principles
Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting is preferred as is more than one (1) year of related experience. Experience working in student activities office or similar environment supporting students and/or experience with Peachtree Accounting is beneficial.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Additional hours are required during peak times (some weekends and weeknights).
