Building Automation Technician Job in Thunder Bay P7b7c9, Ontario Canada
Primary Role:
The main function of this position is to commission Johnson Controls HVAC and building automation systems. These control systems are designed and engineered by Johnson Controls system designers/engineers, installed by electrical sub-contractors and then commissioned by Automation Now Inc Field Technicians in commercial and institutional buildings (e.g. office buildings, schools, universities, airports, hospitals, etc.)
The Install Technical Specialist will work towards continuous improvement of commissioning practices, specifically reducing commissioning hours per device and/or hours per system using JCI techniques.
Responsibilities:
· Commissioning and programming controls systems
· Coordination with other trades and customer/GC/MC as well as Automation Now staff
· Customer management and sales support activities
· Health, safety and statutory compliance
· Administrative responsibilities
Basic Qualifications:
· Post-Secondary degree or diploma related to Mechanical Systems, Mechanical Technology, Building Automations Systems (BAS), and/or Mechanical Engineering. A background in electrical and / or computer technology would also be considered.
· 2 years’ experience working as a mechanical technologist/technician, DDC Controls support specialist or programmer, electronic systems technologist /or related building systems technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of HVAC control systems, fire and security systems, mechanical system operation and building facilities. Johnson Controls Product knowledge would be a benefit.
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and diagrams
· Diagnostics, troubleshooting and/or programming skills
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done
· Communication skills sufficient to deal with co-workers, customers and contractors
Knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical system operation and building systems and networks
·Johnson Control Product knowledge would be a benefit.
· Analytical, diagnostic, troubleshooting and or programming skills a must
·Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done
·Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers and contractors
· Ability to work as a member of a team
· Ability to work independently
