The role is very client focused, often involving travel to their premises and also requires a close working relationship with the relevant Nordics Visa Relationship Manager(s).
The individual will need to deploy expert market knowledge, engagement, selling and project management skills to identify, sell and deliver projects to improve the client’s card portfolio performance.
Additional information
Whilst the individual will be based out of the Stockholm office, the consulting teams seeks to engage with clients in all Nordic and Baltic markets so extensive travel and on-site project delivery will be required across the region.
Initially, the focus of the role is likely to be more on project delivery than sales, so is an excellent entry point into consulting, however given the size of the region and its as yet untapped potential there is the opportunity for rapid progression to a more challenging role where the individual will be responsible for sales and the development of their own markets.
Key Accountabilities:
- Identify opportunities for Visa Consulting to support and develop prospective projects.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Client’s business and their requirements.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with key client commercial and functional staff.
- Write and agree consulting proposals, estimate project resource and cost requirements and agree/obtain client commitment and funding.
- Manage delivery of Consulting projects to the required standard, timing, budget and margin using own expertise and that of the team. This will involve managing both internal staff and external partner consultants.
- Achieve agreed targets for project sales/delivery
- Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to strengthen the team and develop the Visa Consulting product.
Essential criteria:
- In-depth knowledge of payment cards and core retail and/or commercial banking functions (marketing, risk, operations), plus payment card experience with one or more respected banks, payments companies or leading consultancies is essential.
- Advisory/consultative experience in financial services, retail banking or the payment card industry.
- A strong understanding of card-based payment schemes, and detailed, hands-on knowledge of industry economics and the dynamics of rapid competitive change and opportunity, both strategic and tactical.
- Excellent client relationship management skills and a strong sales orientation with experience selling major projects/ideas to senior management.
- A passion for learning and absorbing new information and be able to exhibit the drive and motivation to help members to leverage opportunities.
- Must be an excellent manager of people, therefore able to motivate and inspire teams drawn from (and combined with) both internal departments and external partners.
- Flexibility, good judgment, practicality, integrity and the ability to comprehend, interpret, and convey complex technical information in "plain-speak" language are absolutely required to succeed in this critical role.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Nordic region.

- A good understanding of the Nordic retail banks business model and industry
- Knowledge of the Visa systems and M.I. capabilities
