BUSINESS ANALYST – CHANGE recruitment
The Change Team provides a range of project services, and works in partnership with the Investment Technology Team. The Change Portfolios managed by the Change Team are home to all projects across the Company. Individual Change Portfolio Managers reporting to the Head of Change manage the flow of demand for project services, and work with business leaders to manage an overall change roadmap for the different parts of our business. As projects move from the idea stage into feasibility, and then delivery, more and more of the Change and IT services will be pulled into these projects.
Business Analysts will play a key role during the early stages of new change initiatives, as well as providing analysis capabilities during the main delivery stage of a project. The intention is to develop a centre of excellence in the field of analysis, within which this Business Analysis role lives. The Change Team will work in a matrix structure overall. Business Analysts will be assigned work as it comes onto the change roadmap. Members of the team will also get involved in understanding competitor behaviour, the tracking of key changes in our industry, talking regularly to the typical IT vendors we work with, and staying abreast of regulatory driven change. The role therefore has both a proactive and reactive dimension to it.
Core Responsibilities:
- Providing analysis, research and thought leadership pieces that helps shape the thinking of key business stakeholders.
- Operating model analysis and design, that contributes to the shaping of parts of the business.
- Business process level definition and design – to help improve the performance of specific
business processes and practices. - The articulation of business problems, business requirements and potential business solutions at a detailed level.
- Commissioned pieces of analysis work, connected to new change initiatives as they come onto the Change Portfolio are completed, ensuring problem, requirements and possible solutions are made clear. This analysis may be at the front end of a project, or during the main delivery phase.
- Business processes defined – the as is, the ideal process, and the target process we aim to get to at the end of a specific project.
- Change initiatives moved from the early idea / problem statement stages towards commitment and delivery.
- Outputs delivered to an agreed specification (Statement of Work)
- Working in collaboration with the Portfolio Manager, Programme or Project Manager, new work moved from the idea / problem statement phase to the completion of a business case.
- Multiple formal documents prepared in line with the agreed analysis process and where appropriate explain the costs and benefit profile.
- A range of tools and analysis techniques utilised to collate, analyse and make sense of data.
- Very strong relationships built with business experts and stakeholders with a real focus on the day to day operational practices in order to develop deep business knowledge.
- Time spent in business teams, observing, clarifying and examining business processes in order to translate business issues into clear problem statements.
- Desk based reading and research conducted to build knowledge of industry practices,
challenges and changes coming our way. This may include producing a number of research papers that consolidate information gathered into bite size papers for wide dissemination.
Relationships built with key suppliers of services, software vendors and consultants to build a wide awareness of the industry, typical problems and the typical solutions. - Subject matter expertise and deep business knowledge developed which enables participation in the shaping of the business architecture.
- Content or information contributed to help shape the ‘Change Academy’ learning and development sessions.
- Writing Business Cases.
- Appraising projects financially.
- Business modelling and diagramming for the purpose of explaining complex issues.
- Extracting and defining clear business requirements for projects involving technology systems analysis techniques.
- Writing Effective Use Cases.
- Preparing RFI‘s and RFP for Software Vendors.
- Assessing the merits of 3rd party software packages.
- Preparing test plans and managing the UAT process.
- The preparation of training and support materials, to support the project implementation phase.
Core Skills:
- Interviewing skills, data capture and analysis to produce insights into the problem and potential solutions.
- Statistical and data analysis skills.
- Process modelling and design, Six Sigma and Lean skills.
- Highly developed PowerPoint and presentation skills.
Core Requirements:
- At least 3 years business analysis experience.
- Some relevant working experience within an Investment Management Company.
- Experience working alongside other professional business analysts, project managers, IT professionals, and other change management experts on major change projects.
- Experience of working on IT projects, as well as non IT projects.
- Experience must include having sole responsibility for the delivery of business cases, requirements documents and other typical BA outputs.
