Business Analyst
About the Role
The Macquarie Market Operations Division Technology Account Team is seeking to appoint a Business Analyst. The successful candidate will work on OTC Financial Reform projects - initially the Dodd-Frank rules, followed by equivalent rules in jurisdictions other than the United States.
This is a Business Analyst role where you will utilise your Business and technology skills. The role requires working closely with internal business staff (including lawyers), other Technology teams and stakeholders to review regulations and understand the impact on MOD systems. The candidate will be required to write detailed specifications for developers, often in a short timeframe.
In this role you will be required to:
- Elicit requirements where at times they are not clearly defined
- Produce business requirements and functional design documentation
- Perform data mapping activities
- Undertake functional design and gap analysis
- Create sequence diagrams and state diagrams
- Undertake functional testing as required
About You
To be successful in this role you will:

- Commercial and practical approach - able to demonstrate an understanding of relevant operational and business drivers
- Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Have the ability to work well under pressure to provide timely and accurate solutions to business opportunities and challenges
- Be a self-starter that can work well both independently and as a team. Evidence of developing effective working relationships with team members, senior management and external parties required.
To qualify for this role, you must have the following experience:
- Experience in front office and back office financial services technology, particularly in Investment Banking
- Experience with regulatory reform - particularly OTC derivatives and Dodd-Frank reporting
- A rigorous background in the full lifecycle of business analysis activities including process mapping, scope definition, requirements elicitation and definition, functional design, data mapping, testing, implementation, and user training
- Have at least 3+ years experience in Business Analysis
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent business analysis experience
About Us
The Market Operations Division (MOD) is responsible for the operational infrastructure required to support the settlement of a variety of financial and physical products on behalf of Macquarie. The Division also manages a number of central control functions for the Macquarie group:
- global AML customer on-boarding and real-time wholesale payments screening
- management of customer, systems and financial product data
- a broad range of cash, securities and asset control reconciliations
- secure financial communication services via the SWIFT network
- cross-product margining and collateral management
- OTC derivative clearing and reporting.
The MOD Technology Account Team provides global technology infrastructure, support and development of existing business systems, and delivery and deployment of new systems, technologies and services.
