The EMEA BPA team is responsible for providing detailed financial and operations analysis and support to the Dow Jones business in Europe across the company’s range of Enterprise and Consumer products.
Role Overview
The Business Analyst is responsible for driving improved internal reporting of the performance of the business unit and the key day to day metrics. This will be done through improving current management reports and the development of KPI reporting, as well as providing support to meet ad hoc analytical requests.
What are the key responsibilities?
• Develop, improve and prepare regular financial and KPI reporting for the business unit (with particular reference to EMEA Advertising Sales, Circulation and Marketing teams)
• Report communicate the performance by product to business partners Head of BPA
• Guide understanding of business performance through reporting of KPI data
• Provide insight into operational reporting (monthly and year to date performance) against targets and prior year performance. Understand variances and provide analytical support
• Assist in preparation of strategic plans: collect, consolidate and deliver information
• Take initiative in providing ad hoc analysis and reporting, and identify opportunities for valuable management reporting
• Assist with project work as and when it arises.
What are the essential skills, knowledge experience required?
• Part Qualified accountant with advanced analytical skills and experience
• Experience in the preparation of KPI and business critical reporting
• Intermediate Excel skills (as a minimum)
• Experience of working in a media organisation
• Ability to learn new systems quickly
• An eye for detail resulting in the necessary accuracy
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a pro-active mindset
• Proven ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines and be achievement oriented
• Focus on being a team player with the ability to manage multiple agendas and interests
Preferable
• Knowledge of web analytics packages inc. PeopleSoft, Omniture, Google Analytics and Cognos
