Provides business analysis and systems support to promote the strategy, management and governance of master data including the integration of data ownership and management in business processes across the John Morrell Food Group enterprise.
- Data creation and maintenance: Executes master data creation and maintenance in accordance with established standard operating procedures, templates/mapping documents, service level objectives, and project plans. Completes/processes SAP loads utilizing load templates or spreadsheets and corresponding LSMWs, programs, mass change transactions, direct entry and/or other tools.
- Enforcement of data standards: Enforces gatekeeper process requiring appropriate approvals to ensure SOX compliance. Upholds master data standards by validating/normalizing/cleansing data to ensure adherence to technical and business rules, naming conventions, abbreviations, etc. to provide clean data loads. Runs error reports or data pulls to identify and correct inconsistencies post load. Performs periodic data audits. Searches for methods to continuously improve data accuracy/consistency.
- Data resource: Functions as a master data knowledge resource by helping the business understand master data. Provides business with routine and ad hoc reporting, analysis, and guidance. Analyzes data using advanced skills and experience with formulas, SAP tables, and data mining. Troubleshoots data issues engaging the business and technical teams as needed to reach resolution. Provides data to third parties such as customers, EDI warehouses, and consultants as directed.
- Data initiatives: Works with the business and technical teams to understand rules and implement data setup for new requirements due to system enhancements, process improvements, and/or business rule changes. Provides support for testing and production.
- Data documentation: Maintains logs/shared LAN files to document master data activity for projects, status reports, and SOX compliance. Creates/maintains standard operating procedures, user request forms, and other documentation to promote data consistency.
- Data skill building: Provides cross-training/shares knowledge with teammates to build skills across the master data team. Continuously improves knowledge of SAP master data to better understand how data elements are used by various modules (SD, MM, PP, etc) both technically and by the business.
Required Skills
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Access.
- SAP knowledge or experience is preferred.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast changing environment.
- Proven success working in a team environment.
Experience Required
- Four year college degree in Computer Science, Business or related field. Work experience or other training considered in lieu of degree
- 2 to 5 years related business experience required, experience in a CPG industry a plus.
