Business Analyst – Cash and FX Processing recruitment

Job Description

The focus of this role is to analyse, plan and develop operations and process design for the Cash and FX Processing within the Settlement and Clearing Value Stream, encompassing the entire cash and fx processing requirements around the whole of SS Operations and third-party clearing, and associated funding and cash management processes performed by Standard Chartered Bank Securities Services through its network of local securities market operations in conjunction with Global Shared Service Centres (GSSCs) in India and Malaysia.
The role will be part of the Central Operations Group, and on an ongoing basis will involve close partnership with the Securities Services Local Operational Management, Local Payments Cash Management, Global Product Management, and Central Information Technology functions.

Key Roles Responsibilities

1. PROCESS ANALYSIS;
- Analyze and document the current operating model for Cash and FX Processing elements, inclusive of core and centralized processes, policies, toolsets, and organizational structure.
- Identify operational risks, inefficiencies, capability gaps, best practices, and develop subject matter expertise within the current operating model

2. PROCESS DESIGN;
- Represent Securities Services Central Operations on tactical and strategic projects which impact the cash and FX Processing capabilities, including the Securities Services Target Operating Model (STORM) project.
- Design and document best-practice core operational processes for Cash and FX Processing (including detailed business requirements and specifications) for the Securities Services, applying the principles of process standardization, centralization, automation / straight-through-processing, process control, and risk / quality monitoring and management

3. PROCESS MANAGEMENT;
- Roll out and monitor best-practice core operational processes, organization structures, and common toolsets for the Cash and FX Processing across the SCB Securities Services local operations network and associated central processing sites
- Establish quality, capability, and risk management metrics and benchmarks around the Cash and FX processing and report performance against these benchmarks on an ongoing basis
- Map and maintain oversight of non-core and local exceptional processes related to the Cash and FX processing
- Proactively identify, promote, and implement value stream enhancements which improve core operational efficiency, consistency, quality and operational risk profile.
- In conjunction with Central Product Management Sales, analyze structured and ad-hoc client feedback to identify and address value stream capability and quality deficiencies, and to design and implement value stream enhancements which expand product capability and scope
- Develop and implement operational capacity management and unit costing framework for the Cash and FX Processing which contributes to product pricing and both central and local operational planning efforts

4. CENTRALIZATION;
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Cash and FX Processing in the Global Shared Service Centres (GSSCs), including rationalization of existing bilateral processing arrangements, to promote the achievement of scale and capability.
- Maintain oversight on standard GSSC service contracts, process maps and training materials, and service level agreements (SLAs) for centralized settlement and clearing processes
- Maintain Oversight over the overall interface and relationship between GSSCs and distributed processing sites
- Oversee and advise on the planning and management of Cash and FX processing element migrations to centralized GSSC utilities

5. SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE;
- Act as a subject matter expert, information resource, and central consultant to Securities Service Operations, the Securities Services Business Functions (Product Management, Client Services, Legal and Compliance, Sales/Relationship Management, Solution Delivery) and other wholesale businesses on the Cash and FX Processing, promoting this stream as a centre of excellence within the SCB group
- Contribute to the development of operational training materials, information resources, and sales, sales support (including client due diligence and proposal production) and marketing materials related to Cash and FX Processing capabilities of SS Operations

Qualifications Skills

- Seasoned change management professional with extensive experience and technical knowledge of cash and FX processing in a multi-market sub-custody, global custody, broker-dealer or fund management environment.
- Ability to operate independently and quickly develop an internal network, and self-manage a challenging and diverse workload under multiple time-constraints.
- Experience in process re-engineering, business transformation, IT implementation or similar role.
- Possess strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and be familiar with a range of desktop applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Proven operational, financial, and strategic management experience is required.
- Extensive direct experience in a cash and FX processing functions in a custody or securities or broker-dealer operation
- Process design and improvement experience, preferably including quantitative and qualitative methods (Six Sigma, Lean, TQM etc.), process mapping / modeling, and process management and control methods
- Exposure to strategic projects, systems implementation, and business transformation programmes an advantage.
