At K12, the Business Analyst is a crucial role in creating and maintaining the strategic partnership between business needs and technology delivery.

The Business Analyst will be responsible for developing business requirements and related business rules based on needs of project stakeholders, including internal customers and end users.

In addition, the Business Analyst will work closely with the stakeholders and subject matter experts in the definition, implementation, testing, training, and support of functional requirements.

The Business Analyst will identify requirements via industry standard analysis techniques such as data flow modeling, workflow analysis, and functional decomposition analysis and will solicit requirements through interviews, workshops, and/or existing systems documentation or procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers and stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Business Requirements, Functional Requirements, Business Rules, Concept Maps, Process Maps, User Flows, Acceptance Tests, etc.)

• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs

• Utilize your experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies

• Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers

• Provide conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the application development and quality assurance teams through which requirements flow

• Collaborate with application development team members and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs

Requirements:

Qualfications:

• 5-7 years experience in gathering requirements, market analysis, vision definition, business rules, and documentation of software applications with at least 2 years with web-based applications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of subject matter experts, users, team members, managers, and executives

• Strong facilitation skills with ability to elicit requirements from various stakeholders across the organization

• Proven experience at driving consensus across multiple stakeholders

• Process driven analysis skills and a background in various requirements elicitation methods, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements that facilitates software engineering

• Must be flexible and willing to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks

• Knowledge of, and experiencing working with, information architecture, design wireframes, and user interface specifications is preferred

• BS/BA Degree in a technology related field or other degree preferred
