Business Analyst, Credit Risk-Basel II recruitment

Suncorp Bank is seeking to enhance its risk and capital management capabilities to meet Basel II advanced standards as provided by the Basel II accord and the regulatory standards prescribed by APRA. A major program of work has been established to design, build and implement these enhancements. As part of this program we are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst ? Banking Credit Risk.
Reporting to the Team Leader ? Credit Risk, the key purpose of this role is to contribute to the design and implementation of the credit risk initiatives. The initiatives comprise of significant enhancements to existing and new credit risk frameworks of policies, procedures, governance, risk and capital models, data and processes.
In this pivotal role your key accountabilities will be to:
- Become a subject matter expert with the requirements of Basel II requirements (as detailed in APRA's Australian Prudential Standard 113) and baseline Suncorp credit risk frameworks and practices.
- Undertake gap analysis, and scope initiatives to meet the requirements; engage Team / Workstream leads and key stakeholders in agreeing scope and schedule.
- Document requirements to enable initiatives to be undertaken within the workstream, business or functional areas as BAU or projects.
- Manage own set of discrete tasks and deliverables, either stand-alone initiatives or documentary requirements for wider initiatives.
- Assist in testing, QA or peer reviews of workstream developments.
- Contribute to workstream planning, effort and cost estimation, prioritisation and reporting, as part of overall project management.
- Research and advise on industry and regulatory news and developments; contribute to intelligence gathering.
- Assist in developing policy, risk management methodology, processes and systems for the monitoring, measurement, analysis and reporting by providing analytical and quantitative support/advice and implementing approved changes with respect to the APS 113 requirements.
- Support development of policy and process changes, education sessions and roll-outs, where required.
- Assist preparation and delivery of APRA presentations/updates, as required.
- Support model developments in Credit Risk, with data analysis, process and other documentation, formulation of analytic reporting and results assessment.
- Promote and foster effective relationships with all key stakeholders and business units across the Suncorp Group
To be considered for this role, you will have at least 2 years experience as a Business Analyst working on major projects, and a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline. In addition you will have the following skills and knowledge:
- Analytical skills and ability to think through issues arising in day to day working environment.
- Ability to contribute openly with team and identify and report ways of improving team processes and methodologies
- Demonstrated strong banking credit, risk management and finance practices
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of APRA regulatory requirements
- Project management disciplines and practices ? ideally
