Business Analyst – Data Platform recruitment

Overview of IPP

Schroders are embarking on a large programme of change to upgrade our global portfolio management and data platforms and implement scalable enterprise solutions for OTC derivatives and Investment Risk. This is collectively being referred to as the Investment Platform Programme, IPP.

We are looking for Business Analysts to supplement our existing capabilities in the various steams of the project: Investment, Data and Core.

Overview of role

This role is to support the investment data platform project within the Data Stream of the IPP.

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join the project teams tasked with the definition, modelling and implementation of the data flows for various work streams. We are looking for an Analyst with good technical skills and in-depth knowledge of, and experience of working with, data warehouses, data masters and data workflow.

Key duties

Provide business analysis support to ensure effective delivery (as measured by time, cost and quality) of agreed projects, covering activities such as:

-     Impact assessment of changes

-     Analysis and documentation of requirements

-     Identification and analysis of solutions

-     Design of the implementation of process and organisational changes

Develop effective relationships across the business, IT and the larger Programme Community

Interpret business requirements into system requirements.

Where appropriate, act as a bridge between the less technical BAs and the Developers/Technical resource to ensure correct implementation of requirements.

Specific Skills Required

• Be able to define and model the relationships between key data entities in the investment management business

• Knowledge and experience of standard workflow modelling techniques

• Knowledge and understanding of standard market data sources; Bloomberg per security, Bloomberg Back Office, Reuters, MarkIT, Index providers, Ratings and Pricing data

• Practical experience in defining and setting up global data workflow on a 24/5 basis

Essential Skills

 

Understanding of the Asset Management industry

Experience in a business analysis role essential including business process change and technology change experience (3 - 5 years minimum).

Experienced of requirements elicitation through direct interaction with business users and their processes (Interviews, observation and workshops),

Experience of working with senior business users

Logical, structured thought processes and good problem solving skills

Good relationship management skills - able to engage with and gain confidence of others and maximise their contribution to the process

Strong communication skills - written, pictorial, presentational and verbal at all levels within the organisation

Able to demonstrate initiative

Able to work well in a team

Focus on quality

 

Desirable Skills

 

Technical knowledge of SQL/VBA an advantage

Structured analysis techniques such as UML

Where relevant, support the Project Managers to develop plans to deliver solutions or changes to the business

Experience of operational process change is preferred

Contribute to the BA community and the development and deployment of analysis best practice, tools and methods

Experience and knowledge of derivatives an advantage

Experience of an Order Management System, such as Charles River, an advantage

Experience of working on large programmes of change an advantage
