Business Analyst: Position & Risk Management recruitment

Main Purpose
Trafigura is committed to building and maintaining world class IT applications and infrastructure. The Trading IT group directly supports the Trafigura trading business, and is delivering a far-reaching programme to enhance and improve its trading applications using an innovative architecture to support business growth across the full range of business lines and geographies, and to enable the sharing of systems across different businesses.
We require an accomplished business analyst with in-depth experience of providing detailed analysis and of requirements gathering to enable the delivery of complex software development projects. Within this role, the candidate will provide requirements capture and distilled business vision for multiple projects within the trading division, as well as managing expectations of the key business stakeholders and working closely with the project manager for delivery of these projects. This programme is aimed at delivering functional enhancements and technical infrastructure upgrades to enable continued business growth and enhanced profitability for the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is the determination clear articulation of business requirements for the derivatives trading area, with specific focus on Position Management and Mark-to-Market / Profit Loss
- Stakeholder management to ensure the solution meets business requirements and there are no business surprises for go-live
- Act as the requirements authority (the source of truth) when clarification of the business process is required
- Logical design of the solution, including screen design usability to optimise business processes
- Manage software delivery expectations throughout the development lifecycle
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Essential:
- Proven ability to act as a bridge between the business and highly technical developers, translating business concepts into requirements that are implementable
- Expected to have circa 10+ years of comparable and relevant of requirements analysis in a commercial environment
- Expected to be a domain expert in:
position management and mark-to-market / profit loss
pricing and risk, including real-time valuation
- Demonstrable ability to drive business process changes; challenging current business practices
- Track record of working in a team that has delivered large scale applications written using C++, C# or Java, to agreed timescales and to agreed quality standards
- Experience of a variety of software development methodologies (e.g. continuous integration, iterative development)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic background – excellent degree from a top tier university is required in a subject that demonstrates the need for logical thinking, precise understanding and clear articulation
Desirable:
- Broad knowledge of commodities trading, ideally for physical commodities
- Domain expert in at least one of the following areas:
trade capture for physical commodity derivative transactions
trade confirmation management, including term sheet and confirmation/contract production
physical commodity logistics
position risk management for physical commodity trading
back office trade processing, including invoicing, payments and accounting
