Position Description:
This is a Sr. Business Analyst position in the Finance Data Architecture team with direct responsibility for current state assessments of key reference data dependencies as well as the development and implementation of our future state governance model. The role has two major components:
• Current State Assessments - Evaluate critical Finance reference data domains to satisfy Future State Architecture requirements and Regulatory commitments. Analyze and document workflow processes for financial processing and reporting. Works with other departments, conducts meetings and interviews, and/or conducts primary or secondary research if information is not readily available. Compiles information and analyzes qualitatively and quantitatively, conducting follow-up and verification as needed.
• Establish and Deploy Governance Framework - Leverage the current state business analysis to identify deficiencies in data management and establish standardized data management practices to address these deficiencies and streamline governance across Finance. Administers data governance change management processes; which includes the creation and maintenance of artifacts, maintenance of definitions, standards and policies as well as coordination of data change management/impact assessments. Maintains and organizes the data governance knowledge center and provides ongoing support and guidance to the stakeholders and/or early adopters for fast access to information. Resolves and escalates issues as needed to ensure that partners/stakeholders receive prompt, efficient coverage. Based on analysis, develops reports, proposals for action or implementation plans as necessary and communicates with other departments as necessary.
The function and objectives of this role are in line with the broader Finance Data Architecture Program objectives which include ensuring high quality cross-finance authoritative sources of critical reference data.
The immediate focus of this position is current state assessments of critical Finance data domains including Currency, Geography, Party, Product, and Account. This work will be performed throughout the second half of 2012 with input from business and technology SMEs in Finance and Operations. In addition to conducting these assessments, the Sr. BA will assist in implementing a governance framework including guidelines for stakeholder management, issue tracking, data stewardship, and risk assessment. Finally, the governance framework will be deployed across critical reference data domains and monitored for effectiveness.
Skills Required:
• Experience working with Reference Data preferred, including Product, Client, Geography, etc.
• Financial Services Industry knowledge, including a basic understanding of trade processing from trade capture through to financial reporting.
• Must be a team player with exceptional communication skills and demonstrable ability to effectively communicate to all levels of organization, this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations, with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus.
• Ability to act as a liaison, conveying information in a suitable manner between the business units and counterparts within Information Technology and Operations.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, presentations and related document types.
• Related Bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance) and at least three years of relevant experience.
• Experience in financial services sector, particularly in securities industry.
