Business Analyst, SaaS App Integration Job in San Francisco 94103, California US
Advent Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADVS) will soon implement OpenAir as its global Professional Services Automation (PSA) solution. The Business Analyst, PSA is responsible for becoming the functional IT owner of this application throughout the global implementation and for ongoing sustaining operations activities. This role is within the IT Applications team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Learn OpenAir application in order to become the functional IT owner and business analyst
- Participate in global implementation in partnership with OpenAir Professional Services
- Configure and administer OpenAir application in partnership with PS Operations team (within
business) post-Go Live - Consultancy: Provide well-informed advice, taking steps to ensure that it is properly understood
and appropriately exploited. - Requirements Definition and Management: Facilitate scoping and business priority-setting for
initiatives of small to medium size and complexity. Discover and analyze requirements for
adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenging positively as appropriate. Obtain
formal agreement by stakeholders and recipients to scope and requirements and establish a
baseline on which delivery of a solution can commence. - Data Analysis: Gain and maintain understanding of relevant data, processes, and metrics required
for PSA organization. Provide advice and guidance to developers and others using the data
structures and associated components. - Business Analysis: Investigate operational needs, problems and opportunities in a particular
business area, contributing to the recommendation of improvements in automated and non-
automated components of new or changed processes. - Business Process Improvement: Analyze business application processes; identify alternative
application processes or functional application solutions, assess their feasibility, and recommend
new approaches. - Relationship Management: Develop and manage expectations for a defined communication
channel and user group. Initiate and facilitate communications between key users, acting as a
single point of contact for users. Capture and disseminate technical and business information.
Facilitate the business change decision-making processes, and the planning and implementation of
change for enhancements and small scale projects. - System Design: Recommend/design structures and tools to meet business needs. Deliver
visualization of proposed applications for approval by customer and execution by developers.
Translate business requirements into functional requirements, and produce detailed design
documentation as per department/ industry standards. - Testing: Define and create test scripts, materials and regression test scripts to test new or
amended business applications. Specify requirements for environment, data, resources and tools.
Interpret, execute and document test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Record and
analyze actions and results, while tracking defects. - Change Management: Identify the solution impact to processes resulting from new or amended
business applications. Provide end user training and participate in adoption management initiatives. - Application Support: Provide application support and perform issue resolution. Maintain application
support processes and ensure all support requests are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
Facilitate handoff to development team or vendor support when needed. - Research: Use available resources to gain up-to-date knowledge of any relevant IT system or
business problem. Provide relevant documentation to support research area and deliver proof of
concept for small scale initiatives.
Qualifications Requirements
- 5+ years experience in business analysis with increasing responsibility and involvement in
application implementations - 2+ years experience with SaaS applications (PSA preferred)
- Highly preferred individual characteristics include:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to communicate
effectively and confidently with business partners, IT team members, and senior
management. - Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong business acumen supporting Professional Services, Sales, and Finance.
- Ability to use past experience and assist in business process / solutions design.
- Proficient in setting and managing customer expectations.
- Performs work of the highest quality while maintaining attention to detail.
- Maintains a flexible and adaptable nature in regards to learning and
understanding new technologies. - Ability to operate in a complex environment of multiple projects and stakeholders
and to participate in several projects simultaneously. - Willingness to “roll-up sleeves” and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

- Required technical skills / experience include:
- Strong business analysis experience in a highly integrated, SDLC managed
global systems environment. - Familiarity with Oracle eBusiness Suite and Salesforce.com applications a plus.
