Business Consultant – Architecture

Summary of Role:

Facilitates strategic analysis to support the formation, validation and implementation of business strategy within the context of the Investment Platform Programme, from an architectural perspective.

 
The ideal candidate will possess a broad understanding of the end-to-end business architecture of the business domains within a buy-side Investment to Investment Operations operating model.

Strong experience of Asset Management Architecture across Front, Middle and Back Office.

Experience of consulting within the Investment Management sector.

Strong knowledge of Front Office processes as they apply to Equity, Fixed Income and Multi Asset business domains within an Asset Management organisation
Proven track record of formulating, influencing and shaping credible Investment solutions
Proven domain experience of business process and exposure to top tier technology platforms supporting:
       Portfolio Construction
       Order Management
       Compliance and Investment Controls
       Trading
       Risk Management
       Investment data

 Operations:

Strong knowledge of Middle and Back Office processes as they apply to Equity, Fixed Income and Multi Asset business domains within an Asset Management organisation
Proven track record of formulating, influencing and shaping credible operational solutions
Proven domain experience of business process and exposure to top tier technology platforms supporting:
      Portfolio Accounting
      Derivative Operations
      Performance 
      Operational Data
      Trade Processing
      Asset Servicing

 Business Relationships

Create a working relationship within the specified business domain to establish role as a trusted advisor to the Investment Chief Operating Officers, Business Change Managers and Heads of Operational departments.
Undertake consultancy assignments to shape thinking across IT/Architecture and the business domains around cross project topics of the IPP
Lead feasibility studies to appraise strategic ideas
Lead process reviews to provide transparency to management of issues and risks
Oversee due diligence of new technology products to ensure fit-for-purpose and sustainable

Department Interactions

Influence projects through membership of working groups and steering committees.
Facilitate the production of group wide operational principles if existing doctrine is found to be inconsistent or vague.
Build relationships with overseas offices
Support knowledge transfer across IT functions

 Personal Qualities:

Confident to challenge existing and freely express own opinion 
Strong communicator with presentation skills to senior business and IT management
Team player at team, function, department and organisation level
Investment Management experience gained primarily in Buy Side organisation
Consultancy experience from external consultancy firm or previous experience of internal consultancy
Established track recorded gained though direct exposure to sizable programmes of changed.  Experience could have been gained by actions as Business / Change Analyst / Project Manager / Enterprise Architect.
Educated to a minimum of first degree level with either relevant professional or higher level degree qualifications achieved
