Business Data Analyst recruitment

 Positioned in Global Shared Operational Functions department, the Data Team is responsible for managing centralised data referentials sourcing most AXA IM applications and teams (including Investment Management, Risk, Distribution, Finance departments). The Data Team is currently composed of about thirty analysts taking care of 7 referential data warehouses: Securities, Indices, Portfolios Products, Clients Third Parties, Client Transactions Holdings, NAV, Assets Transactions. The main missions of the Data Team are to ensure the data quality and consistency in the company through streamline data contribution, to rationalise services delivery, and to understand and meet efficiently clients' needs. 

The SMF referential (Security Master File) is involved in the AXA Group project aiming at harmonizing systems, processes and organization for Investment Accounting of AXA European insurance companies. From 2011 onwards, with the sourcing of the centralized investment accounting platform with security characteristics and prices, the referential will manage a wider scope of financial instruments and take over new services and procedures.  

Today 10 Business Data Analysts are dedicated to the SMF referential and are responsible particularly for:

• Administrating the referential (currently more than 140 000 active financial instruments)

• Managing relationship with clients and data providers/contributors

• Analysing and optimizing procedures

Your Mission

-Ensure the creation of new instruments according to the commitments defined in Service Legal Agreements: monitor the automated creation process on plain vanilla instruments (equities, mutual funds…) and set up on clients' demand other instruments in the referential

-Manage clients' scopes of instruments in order to ensure proper data distribution and recharging

-Control data quality in the framework of a SOX compliant process, analyse rejects, propose and implement ad-hoc solutions

-Ensure data is properly captured, controlled and distributed to clients according to their needs. This activity includes :

• Freshness and variance prices check

• Collect manually data from identified sources

• Check completeness

-Maintain relationships with data providers

-Address clients' items and requests on the data quality and business rules: analyse them, investigate to answer properly or / and propose solutions compliant with the referential principles

-Manage data quality committees with clients to review addressed items, prioritize them and validate proposed solutions

-Be expert on financial instruments characteristics and specificities and on data provider services

-Maintain a 'Technology Watch' on new financial instruments and new services proposed by data providers in order to anticipate future clients' requests

-Define, produce and analyse key performance indicators on the referential activity

-Write and maintain organizational and users procedures (administration, controls, distribution)

-Pro-active in the definition and implementation of solutions aiming to optimize routine tasks, develop interfaces and automate controls: write specifications, perform functional tests...

-Promote and communicate changes relative to the SMF referential

Candidate profile

-Education                         Graduate (Bac + 5 minimum in France)

-Experience                        3-4 years within an asset management, data management or fund accounting company or Graduate depends on the profile

-Technical and professional skills

- Fluent in English (oral and written)

- Depth knowledge of financial instruments

- Depth knowledge of Excel and SQL

- At ease with Bloomberg

- At ease with SmartCo data management software will be appreciated
