Hays Specialist Recruitment has been exclusively retained to recruit a Business Design Manager on behalf of The Pensions Regulator, which is based in Brighton, East Sussex. The job role is required to ensure that AE services are developed to sustain and enhance performance in line with our current business strategy and architecture. The Business Design Manager will maintain and identify and pursue key change opportunities (with a particular focus on technology and data) using the AE Business Architecture and Design Authority to ensure AE gets as much value as possible from all the change it invests in.
The Business Design manager will also work with the head of Design and Service Delivery and their direct line reports and across AE to develop AE’s outsourcing strategy post-staging.
THIS VACANCY IS INITIALLY SIGNED OFF UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2016 AS A FIXED TERM CONTRACT.
The Pensions Regulator is the UK regulator of work-based pension schemes. Their principal aim is to prevent problems from developing. Using their powers flexibly, reasonably and appropriately, with the aim of putting things right and keeping schemes on the right track for the long term.
The key responsibilities of the job are:
Support the delivery of a framework and proposals for AE’s Design Strategy post-2018 by
• Reviewing the existing AE Business Case and outsourcing strategy and working with internal stakeholders and senior managers, to develop proposals.
Manage the day to day high level AE Business Architecture, working:
• To ensure that the Business Architecture and AE e2e design is fully understood across AE at levels zero and one (Business Motivational model level) and with the Change Delivery Team to ensure that design products including the operational model, Business Motivational Model and detailed design are aligned.
Bring analytical consistency and rigour to the work of the BDA by:
• Ensuring all design decisions are considered by AE Business Analysts and with reference to the Business Architecture and possible impact.
• Working closely with the Change Implementation Board to ensure decision making is aligned and that AE design/change governance is transparent and consistent.
• Representing the AE BDA at the EADA (and other bodies as necessary including risk-committee) to ensure design decisions are taken at the most appropriate TPR level and to avoid duplication of decision making.
Essential skills:
• At least two years strong business design experience with a demonstrable track record of success (including knowledge of the open group architecture framework (TOGAF) and Prince 2 methodology).
• Experience of working with senior business owners and governance bodies to build consensus on opportunities for change, constructively challenge where necessary and secure timely decisions on complex deliverables
• Proven ability to develop strategies and translate them in an operational context
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills to manage diverse relationships across the organisation
• Commercial awareness – with a clearly focus on risks, costs, benefits and value for money of potential changes
