Business Development Consultant Job in St. Louis, Missouri US
Position Description:

MDA’s Aviation Business Unit develops systems to design terminal approach and departure procedures for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the United States Air Force (USAF), produces electronic Terrain and Obstacle (eTOD) surveys for airports, and supplies a variety of flight operations services to the commercial airline industry.
As a Business Development Consultant within the Aviation Business Unit, you will be responsible for developing and pursuing new business with government and commercial aviation customers, with a focus on US Department of Defense (DoD) agencies and major US commercial carriers.
Responsibilities:
Using your existing connections within the Aviation community, you will create and grow relationships within US DoD agencies, most notably the US Air Force (USAF) and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and commercial carriers to allow for the identification of emerging needs that can be satisfied by MDA.
As a Consultant to the Aviation Business Unit, you will:
- Manage service sales opportunities within Aviation Business Unit
- Manage specific business development and marketing activities or projects
- Gather relevant information on specific pursuits and create a strategic pursuit plan
- Initiate client contacts, follow ups, maintain regular contact with base clients
- Identify major market trends, new/untapped opportunities, new partners and new competitors and issues
- Travel to meet prospective clients on a regular basis or as required
Requirements (experience/skills):
- Aviation industry experience and contacts within the commercial airlines, FAA, or the NGA
- Minimum of 10 years business development experience with complex sales process in a technical field
- Experienced in key sales account management and development
Comments/Special Considerations:
- Regular travel will be required either via ground or air transportation; duration will be typically for 1 to 10 days
- Strong personal initiative and focus are required to be successful in this job
