Business Development Executive –Transaction Banking Solutions QLD recruitment

The Business Development Executive, QLD, will be responsible for originating new to bank transaction banking business across all sectors of the economy within the state of QLD.  This will involve the identification of opportunities with institutional clients of the Bank not currently utilising any transaction banking solutions and new to Bank clients.  The objective of this business generation will be to grow the number of Institutional clients who rate the Commonwealth as their lead transaction bank, and more broadly, grow the Bank's market share within the Institutional Bank segment.

This new role will provide opportunities for bankers to think strategically about long term sales and marketing strategies across a number of significant corporate entities.  To be successful in the role you will need to develop and execute to a plan; closing major Transaction Banking deals.

You will be a key member and driver of business origination teams which will include Institutional Bank Relationship Executives and other colleagues from across IBM. Managing the new business development process will require you to work strategically with senior executives within the bank and clients, and importantly, take a longer strategic view of business development.  In this context you will be the transaction banking product specialist at the board room table and will need to confidently communicate the bank's pitch.

Your targets are likely to include opportunities with both short and long lead times. 

Initially, you will be responsible for establishing and managing each client focussed initiative and gaining support internally.  Collaboratively, the team will develop appropriate client solutions – typically with the involvement of the client, client negotiations, crafting written proposals and response to tenders and leading client presentations usually starting at the CEO level and concluding at the Treasurer level,  Once new deals have been signed you will be responsible for informative handover to the implementation and account management team. 

As the representative in QLD for the Business Development team you will need to be a self- motivator and drive the business to meet your objectives. A key part of the role is to develop your own networks in QLD and position yourself as a thought leader for Transactional Banking.

You will also be required to support the broader Business Development team from time to time as required and dependant on workloads across the team.

Key Accountabilities:

To be successful in this role you will have proven business development experience within Corporate or Institutional Banking (ideally transaction banking), along with superior presentation skills. FSRA Tier 2 is essential.
