Business Development – Invention Investment Firm, Sydney recruitment
This role is based in Sydney, Australia.
Our client is a invention investment company headquartered in US. They are in the business of creating, acquiring and licensing pure invention in a variety of technology areas with the aim of being able to commercialize inventions through licensing, spin-offs, joint ventures and industry partnerships.
Working with a global network of individual inventors and inventors in academic and research institutions, the firm seeks to build its portfolio of inteklllectual property around broad technology themes and specific technology topics. This role is responsible for building, nurturing, and coaching the inventor network, encouraging new inventions in theme and topic areas of interest to the firm, and tracking and evaluating submitted inventions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop strong working relationships with inventors especially those in academic and research institutions
- Ensure inventors understand the invention topics and submission process
- Coach inventors to produce high quality inventions
- Provide feedback to inventors based on results of invention review
- Recruit new inventors
- Analyze and evaluate submitted inventions and establish purchase recommendations
- Participate in Invention reviews with a worldwide network of colleagues to determine whether to select invention for patenting
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience as a scientist, engineer in ICT or employee in the information and communications industry
- Deep technical skills and fluency with information technology developments especially as they relate to the development of Cloud Computing and the future of data centres
- An understanding of both hardware and software technologies
- An established track record of developing relationships within technical communities
- Have an established network of relationships with professors, researchers, software developers and hardware experts
- Must have a minimum of a Masters degree (Ph.D. preferred)
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Energetic, outgoing with outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Desirable: knowledge of patents and patent application process.
