• A minimum of 5 years experience in outside sales, with direct knowledge of Oil Gas / EPC market in the Calgary, Alberta area.
PREFERRED
• A minimum of 8 years freight forwarding sales experience with focus in Oil Gas / EPC, and with supervisory experience.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The company is a US based Logistics Expert with an office based in Calgary Alberta and looking to grow their existing business from this office.
The role of the Business Development Manager is to develop and maintain the client base and generate revenue in accordance with company policy and the objectives of the company. This is to be accomplished through direct sales, public demonstration, assigned sales personnel / associates, demographic and competitor analysis, design and analysis of advertising and public awareness mechanisms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, follow and expedite any/all company policies as relates to any function within, correlating to and in concert within itself and to outside entities.
• Develop market, customer and competitor profiles expending in prudent manner company funds to maximize customer awareness, market potential and minimize competitor impact.
• Propose additions and deletions of company capital assets and expenditure (as they relate to specified clients) as required following consultation, as requested or necessary, with Executive Management.
• Authorize, expedite and/or monitor the hire, training and termination of individual personnel as recommended by subordinate management or personally toward subordinate management.
• Coordinate and manage work to subordinate and associate employees with prudent discretion.
• Assist management and operations staff in compliance with any and all regulatory Agencies.
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
• Responsible to analyze territory or market segment sales efforts through completion of statistical analysis, correlating effectiveness to company expenditure on a monthly basis.
• Responsible to acquire and develop new customers, and further develop and maintain existing customers through appropriate interpersonal contact and through company reporting.
• Responsible to obtain, by market area, information on potential market penetration, associated costs, competitor efforts (and associated costs) as requested by Executive Management.
• Responsible for the identification of the impact of company marketing and advertising efforts as they relate to territory or market segment sales within their area of responsibility, on a monthly basis.
• Responsible for providing researched and specific costs related to territory or market segment sales within their area of responsibility, on a monthly basis.
• Responsible for the coordination of the quotation process in conjunction with the appropriate managers and operations coordinators.
• Responsible for the completion or processing of sales specific documentation and reports as per company policy. This includes distribution to appropriate parties.
• Responsible for the production and tender of proposals and RFQ's (Requests for Quotation) in accordance with management guidelines, and company policy.
• Responsible for the consistent monitoring and assessment of Quality Control Assurance through the eyes of the customer, related to territory or market segment sales within their area of responsibility, as requested by Executive Management.
• Responsible to provide statistical analysis of sales goal progression (or digression) as related to territory or market segment sales within their area of responsibility on a monthly basis.
• Responsible to participate in problem solving and prevention of potential problems throughout the sales process as related to territory or market segment sales within their area of responsibility.
• Ensure that sales and marketing expenditures are appropriately entered and tracked in the accordance with company policy.
• Maintain and enhance the company public image through personal appearance, facilitation of requests and formal public presentation such as seminars, etc.
• Coach and counsel subordinates to ensure the highest level of performance and business integrity.

• Perform other functions as requested by the President on an as needed basis.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Personal skills should include good verbal and written communication skills with appropriate command of the English language. This position must also possess an appreciation of cultural differences in work habits and the ability to meld these into the corporate expectations of overall performance. Computer skills should include a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
This position must also be able to perform logical process and mathematical analysis. Additionally, the person filling this position must have basic functional and working knowledge of the company automated reporting systems and be able to coordinate and transfer work on paper and automated results in written and oral form to customers, subordinates, associates and management from multiple locations and disciplines.
MENTAL SKILLS:
MATHEMATICS
Must be able to do routine arithmetic calculations, develop projection and analytical financial reports, prepare quotations, and prepare operating analysis of market segments, customer and competitor profiles.
LANGUAGE
Must be capable of presenting ideas, operational, and technical information, and be convincing and articulate when communicating with clients, vendors and associates and in making presentations in front of associates, management and customers. Would preferably be fluent in both English and French.

EDUCATION:
REQUIRED
• High School Diploma or equivalent with continuing education in sales techniques and marketing.
PREFERRED
• College Diploma in Logistics/Operation, Business Administration and/or Marketing-Sales Management.
CERTIFICATION
• Current and valid driver's license for all classifications of vehicles driven at all times needed.
