Our client is a privately held firm that incorporated in 1985 manufacturing a single product – to today where their portfolio includes products across more than 10 categories and 2 distinct operating divisions. Our client provides custom food solutions to many of the top food companies in North America. Core competencies include the development and manufacturing of high quality fruit fillings, icings, glaze, caramel, sauces / marinades and much more. Must have’s

 

·         Have a minimum 5 years selling experience, preferably calling on mid to large food manufacturers, developing opportunities through their R+D and Marketing departments. Experience in the Foodservice segment will also be considered in this role.

·         A proven track record in securing new accounts and successfully delivering on sales objectives is essential (Previous ingredient sales would be considered an asset).

·         Possess a great attitude that aligns with company culture.  Integrity and Trust are paramount. 

·         Must display resourcefulness and a track record of achieving sales objectives.

·         Have superior planning and presentation skills as well as the ability to identify new business opportunities with new and existing accounts.

·         Strong communication skills both internally and externally. The ability to work in a team environment is critical to the success of the individual.

·         Possess a post-secondary education preferably in business or food related disciplines.

·         Be self-motivated, independent with a passion for results and possess a real sense of urgency. The ultimate go-getter.

·         Computer literate in PowerPoint, Word, Excel as well as Microsoft Outlook functions.

 

The Role: Business Development Manager

 

·         Manage some of our existing customers to ensure we deliver our plan as well as exceed our customer expectations. Conducting customer negotiations, product development ideation sessions and identifying current customer / market trends will be essential to deliver solid results to the organization.

·         Primary focus will be to develop new customer opportunities within selected markets that are customer specific.

·         Business to business development with cold calls targeting desirable companies.

·         Participate in annual planning and forecasting processes to assist the company in identifying future business growth opportunities.

·         Prepare and conduct product presentations, business reviews and ideation sessions with existing and potentially new key accounts.

·         Ensure effective communication internally and externally as well as updating our sales performance software on a regular basis.

·         Participate in industry tradeshows as required.

·         Travel is required (estimated to be 5-10% of time)
