POSITION SUMMARY:  

 

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of focused marketing and business development strategies for the firm’s practice groups, assisting them in their client development and retention activities.  Responsibilities include: directing client and market research/analysis; drafting responses to RFPs; preparing materials for pitches and presentations; assisting in the development and execution of cross-selling strategies; and supervising staff. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Work on the implementation of the firm’s and practice areas’ business development strategy.

• Manage the proposal process, including drafting and editing responses, preparing presentation materials, tracking and analyzing success rates and developing and maintaining a proposal database.

• Oversee the firm’s industry recognition programs, managing and monitoring submissions to legal directories.

Identify and assess business development opportunities.

Manage and track client development and retention activities.

Coordinate the creation, development and/or assembly of practice group collateral materials to support business development efforts.

Work with practice groups to create a database of client/industry experience, including representative client and matter lists.

Assist in the management of systems and processes to track, measure and report on results (ROI) of business development initiatives. 

Actively participate in practice group meetings; report regularly to each practice on their initiatives and results.

Direct client and market research and analysis, including researching industry trends, assessing competitive intelligence and performing specific client analysis.

Supervise marketing staff as relates to business development projects.

 Requirements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Bachelors degree.  A major in marketing or business preferred, MBA a plus.

Minimum 8 years marketing and business development experience, prior professional services experience preferred.  Previous supervisory experience required.

A qualified candidate will possess excellent oral and written communications skills (samples will be required), the ability to speak effectively, polished presentation and interpersonal skills; and strong analytical, organizational, planning and project/time management skills. 

Must be self-motivated, possess a strong client service focus and be able to work with minimum of supervision and with all levels of personnel.
