Business Development Manager – Major Utility recruitment
My client is an Energy Supplier based in the UK with offices in Central London as well as the surrounding areas. This Business Development opportunity is based within the Commercial Sales team within their central Commercial, Retail Risk function.
The role
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, executing and renewing profitable business for the Business' Group Sales team.
The Business Development Manager will also generate Gross Margin by introducing new clients to the segment portfolio as well through contract enhancement with existing clients. Gross Margin will be delivered by providing clients with a full suite of services and products offered.
Building and maintaining long term strategic business relationships will be key; as well as negotiating with clients and gathering relevant information to further your market knowledge and business tasks.
The Business Development Manager will seek out and execute opportunities to include:
- Profitable long term relationships with large IC energy consumers
- Sales to key clients across the Business product portfolio to include energy supply (electricity and gas), embedded generation, energy services, load management, metering, and data services
- Renewing and enhancing contracts with strategic clients to maintain their market position
Essential knowledge, skills and experience
- Strong commercial communication and interpersonal skills and able to work effectively at all levels
- Sound demonstrable commercial experience of UK energy markets, particularly gas and electricity
- Ability to develop sound and profitable relationships with key clients
- Understanding of UK wholesale and retail electricity and gas markets
- Experience of UK legislation and regulatory issues
- Advanced level of numeracy, commercial judgement and analytical skills
- Innovative, flexible and forward thinking
- Knowledge of gas, power and carbon markets
