Business Development Manager, National Broker/Dealer Channel recruitment
Role Summary
Russell is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM) for the National Broker/Dealer (NBD) sales team. This position will report to the Director of National Broker/Dealer ETF Sales and will be based in the Los Angeles area. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively managing the territory and servicing both clients and prospects within the NBD Channel. This individual will also be responsible for targeted coverage in the RIA channel.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
- Call on advisors at national broker/dealer firms (i.e. Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, UBS, etc.).
- Call on targeted segment in the RIA channel.
- Deliver sales presentations to clients / prospects and influence decision makers at all levels of the organization
- Effectively position Russell’s ETF products and services by developing strong investment knowledge and expertise of the capital markets and investment management industry
- Work with Business Development Associate (BDA) to maximize territory sales coverage
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
- BA/BS Degree required
- Series 7 and 63 (or 65 66) required
- CIMA and/or CFP designation preferred
- 6+ years of related financial services industry, preferably at a broker/dealer or investment management firm
- Knowledge of retail and institutionally oriented investment products (preferably including ETFs) and modern portfolio theory
- Excellent sales presentation skills
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with financial advisors that in turn generate net new assets
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A self-starter with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to collaborate with a variety of team members across multiple functional areas, management/experience levels, operating styles and physical locations
- Comfort working in an entrepreneurial environment and ability to deal with ambiguity
