Job Purpose The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for managing all aspects of an assigned client's business to achieve the client's Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) across the customer base within their Market. The BDM excels at maintaining and growing the client's business, protecting it, and creating and closing new opportunities. The BDM is the client's interface/conduit to the various sales associates calling on customers as well as to support teams in the organization (including order entry, claims/deduction support, schematics and retail). Job Responsibilities Revenue Budget Achievement: Deliver budgeted revenue income by client while maintaining expenses. Responsible for identifying new growth opportunities and closing those opportunities (i.e. expanded product distribution or increased promotional activity). Client Management: Meet or exceed client KPI's to create "raving fans". This includes but not exclusive to goals related to sales, distribution, pricing, shelving placement, promotional volume, and promotional spend levels. Establish regular communication with the clients that lead to strong working relationships. Takes a proactive approach to managing the client's business that anticipates its needs and provides solutions. Business/Category Reviews: Coordinate efforts to develop and deliver sales presentations to clients and customers that highlight sales accomplishments and areas of opportunity. Incorporate the use the syndicated data to outline business building ideas. Administrative Partnership: Support the Business Administrative Assistant assigned by client to ensure that all correspondence and claim/deductions are promptly handled. Facilitate resolution with the client and/or customer as needed. Sales Team Alliance: Distribute client sales information as appropriate to Customer Team Leader's and Customer Development Manager's to further the client's sales objectives. Provide regular updates to managers regarding the status of the client's business. Job Requirements 4 yr college degree or equivalent work experience 3 years work experience in sales, consumer packaged goods, and/or food brokerage organization or equivalent Outstanding written and oral communication skills Organize and marshals resources to achieve objectives (i.e. client funding, program support) Understanding of the CPG industry Strong sales presentation/development skills Comprehensive technical skills to include being proficient in Microsoft Office suites Working knowledge of syndicated data Ability to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and poise vis à vis colleagues, team members, staff, clients, and customers.
