ERS is currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support our Government Service offerings. ERS is headquartered in Westerville, OH, but position / working location is flexible.
Business Development Manager
Job Summary:
The position is accountable for the development and implementation of specific programs and strategies necessary for profitable sales growth in an assigned market segment or service product. Candidate must have a proven track record of electrical services and product sales to the federal government.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and executes all phases of the sales plan.
- Insure effective and timely customer service and sales response, including personal involvement in the sales process as necessary to drive program results. Develop long-range competitive strategy for the program, including annual marketing and sales plans.
- Develop and implement all sales tools necessary for local support of the program, including quotation templates, standardized pricing guidelines and sales training.
- Working with the Region Sales Managers, administer all phases of the sales management process to insure effective and timely customer service and response from the local sales teams.
- Formulates, communicates, implements and evaluates strategies and tactical sales plans for the regions pertaining to their specific area or responsibility.
- Jointly with the Region Sales Managers will evaluate inside and outside Area sales performance against program goals.
- Provides coaching and developmental support to continuously improve the program capabilities of the Area sales team.
- The position will be responsible for sales strategy and implementation of the program to the LBP’s (Local Business Partners), including but not limited to; sales planning and forecasting, training development needs for the LBP sales team, technical presentations and customer visits.
- Responsible for customer relationship management.
- Partner with customers to plan strategies, provide quality service, train personnel and provide support as necessary to for attainment of goals and objectives.
- The position may, at the direction of the VP of Sales, be assigned specific accounts with multi-site national potential as the primary point of contact, supporting corporate growth strategies.
- Provide Marketing support.
- Implementation of national/local marketing programs as necessary to support the program growth.
- Identify and coordinate marketing research and literature development.
- Member of the senior management team.
- As a member of the senior management team, communicates effectively with the operations teams to drive customer satisfaction and growth. Participate as required on quarterly regional review meetings as requested.

Education and/or Experience:
- Graduate BSEE/BSEET engineer and 6-10 years of sales / sales management / marketing experience in the electrical industry for the federal government.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, 50% over night travel required covering sales territory.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. Required to sit and work at computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Conduct walk-through of construction sites and work in and around electrical equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
