Business Development Officer, Core Wire Channel, iShares recruitment
BlackRock is seeking to hire a Business Development Officer (BDO), for the San Francisco, Atlanta, South Florida, and Midwest (St. Louis/Minneapolis/Kansas City) regions, who can build and grow relationships with financial advisors within the four national wirehouses -- Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, UBS, and Wells Fargo Advisors. The ideal candidate will have a consultative solutions-based distribution approach, local market knowledge, and strong territory management experience. He/she will be expected to have strong relationships with advisors in the region as well as develop a strategy to broaden and deepen iShares penetration in this segment of the channel. He/she will manage all conference activity and speaking engagements within the region and should possess the ability to represent complex themes to the most sophisticated audiences in a creative and thoughtful manner.
Additionally, the BDO will be responsible for identifying implementation opportunities and needs for marketing or collateral that will help drive adoption and usage of iShares. He/she will act as a contributing partner on a team which includes communicating the client voice from the field to the National Accounts Team and leveraging a Business Development Associate to maximize territory sales coverage. The BDO will manage a budget to maximize time and resources and will report weekly activities and accomplishments. Expectations will be to effectively manage the territory in order to exceed personal and team sales goals.
Experience and Skills:
- A minimum of five years of 'in field' intermediary sales and territory management experience at an asset management company or hedge fund.
- Extensive territory management experience and strong local market knowledge. Excellent organization and planning skills, particularly around time management and prioritization.
- Relationships with, and demonstrated sales success in, the National Wirehouse firms
- Proven ability to create, maintain, and grow meaningful relationships with financial advisors resulting in sales growth.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage key relationships with advisors, regional coordinators, managers, specialists, and other centers of influence.
- Advanced working knowledge of a broad set of investment management products/platforms, and the capital markets. Ideally, has some knowledge of ETF products but not required.
- Consultative solutions-based distribution approach.
- Team management/leadership experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptive; must be comfortable in a high growth, innovative and dynamic environment.
- Strong preference for the individual to reside in the territory.

Education and Licenses:
- BA/BS required.
- CIMA or CFA certification preferred but not necessary.
- Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) securities licenses required.
- Clean U-4 and clean compliance record.
