POSITION DESCRIPTION

Business Development Officer

Tetra Tech, Inc., a full service environmental consulting firm, seeks a sales and marketing individual with a technical background to support the activities of the Lafayette, CA Research Development Group. The Business Development Officer will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all marketing and sales activities.  The position requires the development of sales plans and marketing approaches necessary to achieve specific sales and growth objectives. The Business Development Officer will initially focus on working with Geomatics team and the pursuit of projects requiring photogrammetric mapping, orthophotography, LiDAR, and hyperspectral technology and Geographic Information Systems. This position will also support project planning, budget analysis, product promotion, and proposal preparation activities. This position will involve direct contact with existing and potential clients and therefore the candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Identification of new clients and target markets is required. This position will require travel for both field work and client meetings.  

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 8 years direct and relevant experience required, preferably within an environmental and science consulting environment. Must be team oriented, self-motivated, comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment, and be able to meet and manage deadlines. Skills Requirements: The ability to identify targets of opportunity, develop strategic teaming partners, promote opportunities within the Tetra Tech organization, and implement winning strategies is critical. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who maintains a positive, team-oriented, can-do attitude and who can inspire others. Strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must have direct experience and excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access. Knowledge of geospatial solutions such as orthoimagery, LiDAR and remote sensing applications as well as experience with statistical, GIS, and graphics software is preferred.
