Position Description
The Business Development Representative will be responsible for marketing and selling of C.H. Robinson???s Transportation offerings by closely analyzing and assessing customers??? supply chains and technology to create solutions that best meet their needs. The BD Rep may facilitate and develop RFP???s in tandem with the department Manager, corporate sales and analytical groups with a goal of obtaining contractual business in the Eastern Provinces of Canada and United States. The position is based in Oakville, ON and reports to the Business Development Manager of Canada Produce Transportation located in Oakville, ON. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, acquiring new business, generating sales leads, soliciting new accounts, face to face meetings and presentations, and the selling of all of C.H. Robinson's brands and services. The Business Development Representative will build relationships, assess needs and problem solve through daily contact with customers who vary in size and channels. The ideal candidate will be skilled in initiating, soliciting, and relationship building with prospective customers. Monthly, quarterly, and/or annual metrics, revenue expectations, and relationship benchmarks will be defined and delivered upon this role.

Responsibilities
Customer Relationships:
-Analyze customer???s supply chain and recommend services to optimize distribution
-Determine customer needs and propose appropriate service solutions
-Input information and tailor solutions to suit those needs which involves estimating our costs
-Develop proposals and contracts for submission to potential customers
-Follow up after sales cycle to ensure customer satisfaction, offering support to handle any transportation issues that might have occurred
- Manage early stages of Account Management when necessary
-Set up new customers within C.H. Robinson systems (such as acquiring credit applications), and making sure financial terms have been addressed and are adequate

Business Development:
-Identify and solicit new business through cold calling, networking, and referrals
- Plan and prioritize sales activities in order to achieve agreed upon business targets including sales and costs
- Maintain weekly Sales Journal that is submitted to management
- Assist with annual budgeting for new sales

Technology:
-Continued education/training on C.H. Robinson???s proprietary systems to best serve needs of customer???s
-Attend training courses offered by C.H. Robinson to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills
-Streamline and continue process improvement for customer???s by using C.H. Robinson???s technology
-Facilitate C.H. Robinson???s online website training as needed onsite with customers.
-Conduct sales transactions through electronic means

Marketing:
-Develop annual target accounts per mode
- Participate in annual food/logistics shows
- Attend and network within regional/national industry associations
- Stay current with all CHR product offerings (new and enhanced)
-Stay informed on competitive services, promotional opportunities,
sales techniques, and pricing

Required Education
- Bachelors degree or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 3 years cold call sales experience in North American markets
-Must be fluent in French
- Strong Analytical skills
- MS Office proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Prior success with new customer sales or customer growth
- Strong technical sales and relationship building skills
- Ability to effectively influence others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Presentation Skills
- Strategic and creative thinking skills
- Ability to travel 25% to 35% of time in Canada and US
