Sales Position for Bleck Design Group
We are seeking a sales person to sell our industrial design and engineering services. We design business, medical, industrial and consumer products. (www.bleckdesigngroup.com). Our clients are visionary executives seeking outside design and engineering services. We sell exceptional creativity and innovation thorough engineering, efficient costs, reduced risk, and self-management. We are looking for natural talent that will grow with the job.
- Selling Experience: You must demonstrate selling experience in any sales, or similar role. Quick learning or a natural affinity for sales can substitute for some experience. You must be able to present to high level executives and understand broad business issues and technology. You must be able to analyze problems on your feet and discuss the issues extemporaneously.
- Creative Analytical Thinking: You must be able to analyze a problem, break down the issues, and conceive of stages of work required solve the problem. Familiarity with the Harvard Business School “case study” method or similar process is useful. This part of the position is extremely important. Within 12 months you will be writing proposals.
- Comfortable With Technology: You must have an interest in science and engineering, technology, and the cross over between the arts and engineering. You don’t need to be an expert but you must be literate in basic physics, chemistry and life-sciences. Many clients have PhD’s or advanced engineering degrees.
- Product Design and Development: You need some knowledge of industrial design, mechanical engineering, and product development. For example, you will quickly be able to discuss ergonomic/human factor importance, or how electronics are cooled, or the differences in touch panel technology. Show some aptitude to learn this quickly.
- Lead Generation: You must be able to identify companies that can use our services. You can search publications and identify likely customers; you can gather industry rumors and dig for leads. Within a few weeks you should understand who our potential clients are.
- Proposals and Communication: We will teach you our proposal process and closing process. You must quickly learn about past projects, the innovative solutions, the development costs and the success stories. You must have excellent writing skills combined with verbal presentation. You should be able to write stories about projects from interviews with staff and clients.
- Education: You should have a college degree. Degrees in engineering, industrial design, graphic design, science, liberal arts, business are all useful. We have an open mind and will consider many candidates demonstrating excellence on the job and in academics. Advanced degrees such as an MBA are helpful, but not necessary.
- Salary and Benefits: Salary and benefits are competitive. There will be a base salary and commission based upon performance. This is intended to be a long term position where you grow with the company and are a key contributor.
