Job Description:
Siemens Industry, Inc. is searching for a Business Development Specialist to support our Water Technologies Business Unit located in Hoffman Estates, IL. This individual contributor position reports directly to the Director of Business Development. The service portfolio consists of Build Own Operate (BOO) and Full Service Agreements in the Industrial market for the treatment/production of process water, complex wastewater, recycle reuse and waste to energy. This position will be chartered to coordinate the actions required to drive the growth of this business by proper support of sales/marketing activities, monitoring of the profitability of the existing account portfolio, and implementing and recommending development programs to sustain growth of this business.

The responsibilities of this position include:

General Business Development Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain customer relationships through trade shows, opportunities, proposal development and project execution phases
• Prepare business / technical papers and presentations for technical conferences to highlight the Siemens Water Management program
• Working with sales to determine proper market segmentation and develop / implement sales plans and marketing support to drive growth
• Develop/maintain region focused sales tools to properly explain the value proposition of the Water Management product offering

Bid-Specific Development Responsibilities:

• Provide commercial and technical direction to sales and applications engineering to determine the proper sales strategies necessary to win opportunities identified.
• Develop/maintain region focused proposal template documents to support the applications engineering / sales team in selling efforts
• Present proposed solutions at customer meetings, including preparation of presentation material
• Work with the sales teams on their determination of the bid / no bid decision
• Utilize and maintain accuracy of the discounted cash flow model and any pricing models for the Water Management commercial arrangements, including the structuring of the monthly pricing, buyout tables and cancellation tables.
• Present and explain the Build Own Operate financial arrangement with customers and internal Siemens personnel. Develop Make vs. Buy analysis. Understand the FASB rules as they apply to the classification of operating leases and service agreements.
• Coordinate BOO project funding with finance
• Act as an educated mediator and director for the negotiation of project terms and conditions
• Coordinate LoA/Offer Release Process

Monitoring and Control Responsibilities:

• Develop / monitor / report with sales the appropriate sales metrics. Maintain focus on key opportunities and hot prospects with implementation of regularly scheduled monitoring and reporting.
• Organize and deliver key information to upper management of the SII RC and the GBU, this includes revenue forecasting, sales forecasting

The qualifications the ideal candidate will have include:

• Minimum of a BS in Engineering or Science/Technical related degree, with other disciplines considered based on experience
• Masters of Business Administration (MBA) with focus on finance and marketing, along with a BS in Engineering strongly preferred
• Minimum of 5 years experience in water and/or wastewater treatment industry with direct involvement project development
• Ability to travel up to 40 percent is required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, is required
• Ability to effectively communicate and present both verbally and written with customers, sales and management, including public speaking
• Demonstrated leadership skills and able to lead and work as part of a team
• Ability to work independently at a high output level
• Ability to manage complex situations
