Honeywell Specialty Materials (SM) is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance specialty materials, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining.
 
Honeywell SM is currently seeking a Business Engineering Leader for the Fluorine Products business unit at the Morristown, NJ or Baton Rouge, LA locations.
 
Principal Duties Responsibilities:
• Lead the global capital allocation processes across the Fluorine Products business unit.
• Directly accountable for project management and coordination of project management, and responsible for driving performance on ALL business unit capital projects.
• Responsible for managing capital expenditures and forecasting for the business unit, and providing monthly capital reports to leadership.
• Manage, coordinate, and monitor activities of process, engineering/design, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, procurement, and construction at all stages in development of the project scope for 
  larger investments, and manage the overall effort leading to an approved Appropriation Request (AR).
• Works closely with the Fluorine Products (FP) Director of Integrated Supply Chain, to support key business initiatives, and an active participant on the business leadership team.
• Drive a common culture, engineering design standards, engineering operating procedures, values, and business processes across each FP site or function.
• Ensure consistent project execution processes (Honeywell Capital Project Management Processes-CPMP for large and small investments).
• Provide the most competitive engineering services and quality resources, while balancing business focus with functional engineering excellence.
• Lead the functional engineering excellence program (standard work processes), by working closely with each of the FP sites, to drive continuous improvement.
• Drive capital efficiency improvements.
• Works closely with the finance organization to provide project economic valuations on certain initiatives or investments, in order to present such business cases to leadership.
• Provide technical engineering direction and guidance, by applying in-depth knowledge on a variety of complex business issues, in order to drive the process improvements and product upgrades
  required to keep up with customer demands and to serve the global markets.
• Provide strong leadership, business acumen, strategic perspective and effective decision making processes, in support of key initiatives.
• Drive key processes from an engineering perspective (i.e. - strategic planning, annual operating planning, performance management and career development, resource planning, support marketing
  and operations on new product development, process improvements, design for Six-Sigma, lean initiatives).
• Understand, identify and fill technical and resource skill gaps.
• Ensures that each investment is staffed appropriately for a successful execution.
• Interface with key site and company personnel to make maximum use of available resources. Such functions will include, but not limited to, other site engineering resources, purchasing, operations,
  systems, and business engineering, as well as equipment vendors, contracting firms.
• Maintain leading technological edge and engineering knowledge of processes across the business.
• Serve as interface liaison with business units and corporate resources.
• Drive the sharing of best practices across the business unit and with your peers in other businesses.
• Develop and implement a strong safety awareness program with a consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
 
Position Scope: Financial/Budgetary:
Direct Reports: 10 - 12
$100MM - $200MM Capital per year
Functional Reports: 15 - 20

• Work with teams of engineers, maintenance, materials management, operations employees, and the business leadership team, to plan, assist in the development and implementation of a strategy that
  improves safety, quality, reliability, and process control.
• Develop thorough project execution plans, defining scope, schedules, estimates, design deliverables, and procurement plans.
• Successfully manage the portfolio of capital investments; assign appropriate resources, ensure all goals and metrics are met or exceeded.
• Skillful application of standard work processes (functional excellence), including CPMP, engineering design standards, engineering operating procedures, capital prioritization process, value
  engineering, etc.

 

Basic Qualifications:
 
• BS degree in Engineering.
• 15 years experience of increasingly related responsibilities in the capital project management and execution process.

• MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

• Track record of successfully managing this magnitude of investments and organization.
• Six Sigma Greenbelt (or Blackbelt) certification or equivalent experience implementing productivity / continuous improvement projects.
