BlackRock's Beta Strategies Group ("BSG") manages more than $1.4 trillion in global index equity assets, passive allocation and currency hedged portfolios across US Equities, Developed Markets, Emerging Markets, Commodities REITs. IE has primary offices in San Francisco, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The group offers investors one of the industry's broadest arrays of investment choices. Our clients include corporate pension plans, public pension plans, central banks, sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors.
The Business Manager role is part of the COO function within BSG which is responsible for supporting the overall management of the department, including strategic planning, budgeting, reviewing improving business processes, supporting new products / instruments, liaising with technology operations departments, and providing key management reporting to senior leadership. The Business Manager will play a key leadership role in determining the strategic direction of BSG. The Business Manager will primarily be responsible for management information reporting, production of presentations and strategic business analyses for BSG. The position requires interaction with senior management in BSG and with our partners.
The role requires strong analytical capabilities, the ability to work independently achieving results within tight deadlines. Also, the ability to work as part of a team and coordinate across multiple teams will be essential to the role's success.
This position will be located in San Francisco and will have a global focus in all of its activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and synthesize relevant management data such as financials, performance, AUM and trading data. Review department metrics and data to uncover trends, identify issues and ensure accuracy. Pursue initiatives to improve data quality as appropriate.
- Design and implement management information tools pertaining to profitability and efficiency of business. Produce stats for senior leadership within BSG and for the greater BlackRock.
- Represent BSG in the Business Economics Project.
- Continually analyze key aspects of BSG's business to evaluate the factors driving results and provide thought leadership on how to strategically navigate our business to adapt to changes in investor demand, regulation and in the capital markets. The Business Manager will need to summarize results and finding in presentations (QBR, Business Highlights, BLK Board etc.).
- Coordinate all aspects of financial planning, forecasting and reporting
- Support BSG management on various projects ensuring timely delivery and quality execution of processes in line with management expectations.
- Prepare analyses for ad hoc reporting requests.

- High level of self-motivation and good business judgment
- High degree of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
