Business Manager – Derivatives Middle Office recruitment

The role is within Derivatives Middle Office COO team, which ultimately reports into the Derivatives Middle Office GFH.

The successful candidate will report directly to the current Derivatives Middle Office COO Stream lead. There will also be indirect reporting into the Derivatives Middle Office COO. The role involves daily interaction with the Derivatives Middle Office senior management.

The Derivatives Middle Office COO team’s function is to manage the headcount and costs for Derivatives Middle Office and support the Derivatives Middle Office senior management in delivering their strategic objectives. The breadth of products covered and services provided means we also have a very large stakeholder population. As such, the successful candidate will need to have very strong analytical and communication skills to be successful in the role. The candidate will also need to be very comfortable working with ambiguity and be prepared to work in an environment and role that depends on flexibility. The work can be very varied in quantity and complexity.

The individual will be responsible for:

-Managing the headcount reporting (actuals and forecast) and working closely with the functional heads to ensure plans are in place to meet headcount targets

-Understand the cost base in detail (Producer and Consumer views) and all the components making up our cost base. Understand the businesses where we onward shred our cost.

-Track movements in the consumer cost base, investigate, document and show impact of changes for each final bill

-Coordinate and drive Process Excellence initiatives (projects, capacity models, etc) globally.

-Manage Offshore headcount reporting and liaise with BUC and other stakeholders to ensure accurate representation

-Prepare various pieces of ad-hoc analytics and/or presentations. These can be anything from headcount to costs to volumes to external surveys, etc

Requirements:

-Prior experience in a business management role would be preferable

-Prior experience in FICC and / or EQ products would be preferable

-Drive and commitment, good communication skills, teamwork, analytical ability and good problem solving skills are essential

-Strong Excel and PowerPoint competency highly desirable – Macros and VBA not needed

-Experience of working in a cost or headcount management role previously would be desirable

-Proven experience and discipline with regard to time management and delivering to irregular and sometimes long dated deadlines is required

-Strong communication skills – written and oral

-Comfortable to interface with numerous stakeholders – NO to MD rank

-Team oriented

-Strong time management and organizational skills
