Business Strategy Development
- Develop a scalable, repeatable business strategy development process for Asian ex-Japan Institutional Business (IB).
- Provide direct support to the Head of Asia ex Japan Institutional Business in development and execution of regional/segment-specific business strategies.
- Manage the process on how to best assess the business direction and growth potential and review business opportunities. Partner with Corporate Strategy team on feasibility studies on new business segments.
- Design and implement processes to build increased market and competitor intelligence across IB. Act as the central repository of such intelligence.
Business Management
- Work with the Risk and Business Operations teams to ensure the development and maintenance of an appropriate controls environment for IB
- Deliver, as required, responses to ad-hoc industry/regulatory/client issues
- Assistance to regional leadership on individual fee negotiation situations as required
- Take responsibility for new initiatives including planning and execution
- Support of Institutional Leadership on a wide range of ad hoc business and other issues
Product Strategy
- Evaluate the product needs of IB and communicate them to Portfolio Management Group (PMG) teams.
- Partner with the Product Development team to define our priorities and oversee projects to bring on new products / product enhancements.
- Strengthen relationship with Global Consultant Relations teams and gain a full understanding of consultant ratings and competitive positioning for our priority products.
Internal Communication
- Work with regional Executive Committee (Exco) to develop and implement an internal communications plan to ensure staff engagement across regional footprint
- Develop presentations on IB to regional Exco and senior management.
Finance and Budget Preparation, Review and Control
- Work with the Finance, Strategy and Human Resources (HR) team to produce annual revenue and expense - including headcount - plans for the IB
- Manage monthly financial management review processes across IB
- Manage process for regular re-forecasting of major PL components, i.e. revenue, pipeline and expenses
- Profitability and efficiency measurement
- Development of an approach to managing the business which puts profitability at the heart of decision making
Staffing, Recruitment, Evaluation and Development
- Work with HR and the senior leadership team to agree talent management processes and outcomes
- Manage input at appropriate levels into Success Path, including objective setting and reviews
- Coordinate succession planning
- Maintain a candidate list for business growth and contingency planning
- Co-ordinate Regulatory/Compliance related activities, including CPT training/point management
- Organize cross-region training/knowledge share
Service Model Enhancement
- Continued focus on creating maximum efficiency and consistency
- Leveraging One BlackRock
- Migration of non-client facing functions out of Global Client Group
Engagement with Technology / Management Information / CRM
- Work with Business Operations to develop a technology road-map to support the developing needs of IB
- Work with Aladdin Technology to implement and improve the CRM system for IB
- Design, develop and where appropriate, produce the performance metrics used to manage IB
Requirements
- Degree qualified
- Wide product knowledge preferred
- Solid finance background
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
