The Business Objects Reports developer/analyst is responsible for the build-out and support of business intelligence applications using Business Objects, Oracle, SQL Server and Informatica. Responsibilities for this position include analyzing business requirements, both documented and undocumented, data analysis and designing, developing and unit testing Business Intelligence solutions to meet data and analytical needs for sales, operations, finance, quality and other functions. The incumbent will perform data analysis and write Business Intelligence solution specifications, following applicable standards and conventions. The Business Objects Reports developer will use available tools in the Business Objects toolset to develop the required BI solutions. The developer will need to troubleshoot any issues or bugs discovered during the course of a project and provide ongoing application support.

Key Responsibilities

The Business Objects Reports developer/analyst will be responsible for the following:

•Work with end users, business analysts, technical staff and project team to plan, design, develop, implement and enhance Business Intelligence applications.
•Perform data analysis using SQL against Oracle, SQL Server and other RDBMS environments.
•Perform data architecture, data modeling, database design, reports and universe design, Business Objects administration, metadata, data quality, governance related activities.
Design technical components, create and maintain report and universe specifications using applicable standards.
Create reports, universes, dashboards and scorecards using Business Objects tools including drill, hierarchy navigation and customizations as per specifications.
•Create PL/SQL procedures, packages and functions, as well as windows or UNIX batch scripts as required.
•Perform peer document reviews and code reviews to ensure adherence to user requirements as well as applicable standards and conventions.
•Perform project and ongoing support bug fixes by diagnosing, isolating, planning for and implementing the change.
•Perform change impact analysis and estimation on code changes.
•Review current components; recommend optimizations and reconfigurations as warranted.
•Evaluate and recommend new tools and methodologies to assist in meeting business requirements.

•Bachelor’s degree in the area of computer science or management information systems preferred
•Good understanding of Ralph Kimball’s approach to data warehousing. Experience working with OLTP systems also encouraged
•6-8 years of strong recent experience in design and development of Business Objects Reports, Universes, Dashboards, Scorecards, Navigation and drill down using various Business Objects toolset (Webi, Universe Designer, Crystal, Xcelsius, Explorer etc) (version XI R2 and higher) in a Data Warehouse environment
•Experience with Business Objects BO 4.0 a plus
•Multiple years of hands on experience with databases like Oracle, SQL Server
•Strong Data Modeling and SQL skills with a proven ability to perform thorough data analysis
•Experience with Business Objects Administration - Installation of BO software and service packs, Managing Licenses, Data sources Connections, Users and Groups
•Experience with Server Management Tasks, using Central Configuration Manager (CCM) and Central Management Console (CMC), managing Schedules/refreshes, Instances and monitoring
•Experience with Configuration of Web Application Server
•Experience with Configuration of File Repository Servers, Cache and Page Servers, LOV Job server, Web Intelligence Job and Report Servers, Desktop Intelligence, Job, Report and Cache Servers, Destination Job Server, Program Job Server, Event Server and auditing database
•Experience writing database procedures, preferably Oracle PL/SQL
•Strong UNIX and Windows scripting skills
•Experience with XML integration preferable
•Experience with Business Objects Upgrade a plus
•Experience with Informatica tools a plus
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Must be able to provide support outside of US work Hours and on weekends as and when required to support maintenance activities
•Must be able to see a project through from beginning to end; deliver complete and accurate documentation to support the project and communicate project milestones and scope changes as they arise

•Pharmaceutical or Life Science experience a plus
