The Role
Overview
The Schroders Private Banking | Cazenove Capital Integration Programme has a requirement for two experienced ‘hands-on’ Project Managers to join the London team on an initial 6 month contract basis.
Reporting directly to the Programme Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible as the single point of accountability to plan, direct, and deliver a variety of moderately complex business change projects to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished with high quality, within established time frames and budget, and meet the Schroders Private Banking | Cazenove Capital client and business needs.
The Project Managers will be required to demonstrate solid experience within both front and back office Private Banking and Wealth management or an Investment Management environment as well as a strong background in managing business change projects. This is not an IT role and by its nature the role requires an enterprise-wide view of the high-level business landscape in which Schroders Private Banking | Cazenove Capital operates.
As such, the Project Managers will work with a wide range of internal business areas including but not exclusively, portfolio management, operations, finance, reporting and data migration. Applicants must possess a validated track record in managing multi stakeholder projects, as well as a proven history of successful delivery using formal methodologies.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on an important integration change programme at Schroders Private Banking | Cazenove Capital where you will have access to and visibility with senior management, and the autonomy to drive and deliver change with the full support of the wider regulatory function.
Main duties and responsibilities
Leadership and Deliverables:
- Working with project sponsors, business leads and other stakeholders to develop and maintain quality project documents.
- Applying appropriate formal project management standards to scope, planning, progress tracking, risks and issues and resource management.
- Lead by example in undertaking some of the senior business analysis tasks as necessary.
- Gathering business requirements and completing any GAP analysis impact assessments.
- Effectively managing project teams to ensure tasks are completed within agreed timescales.
- Proactively liaise to resolve or re-plan where issues arise for any tasks.
- Preparing various project reports to the Programme Manager and other stakeholders.
- Preparing managing and monitoring the delivery against plan to ensure progressive development and success of the project/programme.
- Identifying and managing dependencies with other projects and business priorities.
- Pre-migration UAT test co-ordination and execution, and fault/ issue analysis.
- Deployment and post-implementation support of the final solutions into the production environment, creating a transition plan and managing the handover from project to 'business as usual.
- Ensure that the projects leave behind a detailed history of the decision making process, approvals, sign-offs and change control which can be easily audited.
Relationships:
- Be a champion of the programme, engaging the support of others as necessary.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior business stakeholders, ensuring all are enrolled and committed to the importance of the initiative.
- Work with the Programme Manager to ensure that the project and work areas adhere to the projects framework for planning, execution, monitoring and closure.
- Chair steering committee meetings, ensuring the project communicates its purpose, progress, status and issues and risks regularly.
- Work with other managers to ensure that the connected work areas deliver in harmony, rather than at the expense of each other.
- Work with Finance department to ensure appropriate budgets controls and monitoring.
The Person
Qualifications (educational, professional, regulatory)
- Educated to degree level in a relevant technology subject, or with equivalent experience.
- Accredited Project management qualifications.
- Investment management qualifications.
Essential skills and experience
- Must be able to provide examples of having assumed a lead Project Manager role delivering operational change as part of a large-scale business change programme within a private banking, wealth management or investment management environment.
- Proven understanding of investment management/ wealth management back office processing including clearing, settlement, accounting, valuations and risk processes.
- Proven understanding of front office portfolio management and dealing data and processes.
- Proven business analysis experience in hosting workshops and soliciting and writing requirement specifications and test strategies.
- Appreciation of the regulatory landscape including RDR, FATCA and High Risk Clients.
- Knowledge of investment products including equities, debt, derivatives and structured products.
- Data management and book of records keeping systems experience is essential.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and facilitation skills to motivate, and win the confidence and trust of senior stakeholders.
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and interpret end user requirements using excellent information gathering techniques.
- Highly developed PowerPoint and presentation skills.
- Delivery and results focused, capable of driving projects through to tight timelines within a fast paced environment.
- Ability to build trusted and respected relationships with the business and project team.
- Strong leadership, management, planning, negotiating and issue resolution capabilities.
- Strong experience of MS Project.
