Business Systems Analyst

SUMMARY:

The Business Systems Analyst role is an entry-to-mid level position in Tilly’s merchandising department.  The Analyst will report directly to the Director of Merchandise Systems.  Responsibilities associated with this role include assisting in planning, maintaining, developing, and launching essential tools and systems that will be used by planners, allocators, and buyers in making merchandising decisions.  The Analyst will also be responsible for performing various analyses on an ad hoc basis as well as periodically generating reports.  This individual will work primarily in Excel but will also be required to work within other systems that the company utilizes. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Merchandising Tools Support

·        Improve merchandising tools by:

o   Meeting with personnel in the planning, allocating, and buying departments to identify issues in existing tools.

o   Proactively performing independent reviews and analyses on existing tools in order to discover areas for further improvement.

o   Collaborating with the Director of Merchandise Systems in order to resolve issues and develop new tools.

·        Perform pre- and post-implementation support by:

o   Performing in-depth tests on new tools or modified existing tools to ensure that errors are eliminated before rolling out to end-users.

o   Serve as the primary contact person when end-users need support for merchandising tools.

·        Assist in the launch of modified or new tools by:

o   Clearly articulating in writing and verbally all changes that the end-users should be aware of.

o   Ensuring all users understand improvements and use them appropriately.

 Report Generation

·        Assist with periodically running a library of merchandising reports.

·        Accommodate report requests from planners, allocators, buyers, and management on an as needed basis.

Ad Hoc Analysis

·        Help with ad hoc projects as they arise, either independently or in collaboration with other team members.

·        Create, produce, and present complex analyses on historical data or other information.

Systems

·        Work with others on the Merchandise Systems team as well as in IT to maintain Tilly’s merchandising systems, which include JDA, MicroStrategy, and SAS Merchandise Planning.

·        Help launch new systems to end-users by:

o   Providing training.

o   Clearly communicating benefits and proper use.

o   Ensuring reliability to end-users in order to ensure their comfort in using new / updated tools.

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

·        Proficient in the use of Excel and  MS Word.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

·        Bachelor’s degree in related field.

·        Advanced user of Microsoft Excel

·        Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)

·        Previous experience in retail industry and / or as a systems analyst preferred

·        Excellent interpersonal skills.

·        Strong verbal and written communication.

·        Proficient in English
