Role: Business Systems Analyst
Responsible for analyzing and evaluating complex business problems, developing system requirements, implementing those requirements in a cost effective manner and integrating those with existing systems. Performs detailed data analysis and consider subject matter expert on one or more system within Data Technologies.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze complex business problems, propose effective solutions and understand and apply business vision and direction.
• Analyze and understand the current state processes to ensure that the business and technical project teams understand the context and implications of change, and provide options and alternatives when necessary
• Understand existing architecture and data flows and how present and future business needs will impact them
• Identify and document all business, technical, product and process requirements incorporating clear and concise scenario based documentation
• Work with business to prioritize and rationalize the requirements.
• Define acceptance criteria and develop test plans and specifications to ensure the implemented solution meets all user requirements
• Proactively analyze ways to improve systems and suggest modifications, enhancements or automation
• Perform data validation and process verification to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all systems.
• Identify and analyze data discrepancies and data quality issues and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
• Lead project retrospectives, capture output and communicate lessons learned.
• Manage business expectations through careful and proactive communications regarding requirements and changes.
• Build effective relationships with both business and technology teams to develop a joint vision for the project.
Requirements: Knowledge, Experience, Skills
The education level, previous experience, specific knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the minimum entry-level requirements (not necessarily the incumbent’s experience or education level) for this position. This may include special skills, statutes or regulations, and department procedures.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science (or related field)
• Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of directly related experience
• Specialized Knowledge: Experience with Hadoop ecosystem and “NoSQL” key-stores advantageous
• Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening skills.
• Strong organizational and negotiating skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
• Strong SQL skills and knowledge of relational databases
• Strong understanding of systems development life cycle, business process analysis, business requirements definition, and testing strategies/planning
• Comfortable in a UNIX or Linux environment
• Ability to work independently
• Other: Knowledge of Hadoop, PIG Latin and some of the new “NoSQL” key-stores would be advantageous
