The Business Team Leader has responsibility for the Product Management and Product Development of the Supply and Protect segment of Logic Components. Responsibilities include the development of global portfolio strategies, leadership for product development, management of financial objectives and the development of personnel. Due to the Rockwell Automation’s organization design, it is critical for this leader to influence and collaborate with functions, such as Operations, Engineering Services, and Purchasing/SSO that do not report to this leader.

The specific products supported by this position include Power Supplies, UPS, Transformers, Circuit Protection Devices, and other related devices. The scope of this position includes approximately 5-9 direct reports. 2011 business segment worldwide sales are greater than $50M.

Accountable for developing global product portfolio strategies that meet business goals for market share, revenue growth and profitability.

Drive productivity programs that improve product costs aligned with segment objectives.

Lead Development Engineering through the Common Product Development (CPD) process such that innovative products are developed quickly and consistently.

Engage Demand Planning and the Materials group to forecast product line sales, monitor performance, and support corrective inventory actions.

Collaborate with Commercial Marketing and support company-wide global activities such as training, trade shows, pricing, marketing programs, and literature development.

Work in partnership with RA’s Channels group to launch new product categories only after carefully considering displacement issues at A-B Distributors.

Guides the Product Managers to document product line strategies that analyze industries, competitors, and customer purchases, assess technology, and size the market.

Identify and pursue appropriate strategic brand label opportunities and relationships. Join forces with Purchasing and the Contracts group to create and maintain the contract.

Become proficient in using SAP to support the business processes such as New Product Introductions and Product Discontinuations. Leverage the SAP data to support pricing decisions, resolve inventory issues, and manage product data attributes.

Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline such as Electrical or Mechanical or other Engineering Sciences

A minimum of 3 years experience in Product Marketing or Development Engineering for Electro-Mechanical products and at least 3 years of people management experience.

Proven ability to work with internal and external organization and deliver product to the market from an engineering and or marketing perspective.

Strong working knowledge and experience with related industrial control products.
