Business Unit Controller
Our client is looking to add a Business Unit Controller to oversee their $400 million dollar business unit. This position will be an integral member of the business unit's leadership team. The primary responsibility will focus on serving as the senior financial leader for the business unit to help maximize organizational goals, growth, and operating income. Additional responsibilities include enhancing accounting business processes, overseeing the business unit's accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, planning and analysis, operations support, including contract pricing and deal structure support, establishing and maintaining internal controls and procedures, and reporting of key financial metrics. Team building, setting objectives and tracking expected results are also key components of this position. Specific Duties: * Accurately prepare periodic financial statements and related comprehensive analytical reporting supporting both business unit and corporate requirements * Strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting requirements, focus on revenue recognition and software capitalization * Manage billing, trade accounts payable, general ledger and account reconciliation processes * Oversee accounting procedures and internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing) * Comply with all audit requirements and mange required controls to meet requirements * Support all financial related audits including compliance, internal and external audits and SOX * Direct/manage all aspects of budgeting and forecasting processes. Strong analytical skills required * Analyze and monitor financial data and other operational metrics to ensure maximization of financial performance * Supervise, mentor and develop exempt and non-exempt accounting staff including setting objectives and assessing results based performance The Business Unit Controller will need to meet the following requirements: * Must have proven management and leadership experience in an environment of similar complexity and size * Must have wide knowledge base of different software systems * Executive level experience required * Minimum Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline * 15 plus years of direct financial management experience in a complex environment with escalating levels of responsibility (specific to accounting and financial reporting per the job responsibilities above) * Financial Planning and Analysis roles do not meet the requirement for direct accounting and financial reporting experience * Proven experience in similar controller roles of 3 years +. A similar role requires a company of similar size (+$400M to $1B in annual revenue) preferably publically traded * Strong strategic thinking skills working with a multi-disciplined diverse team * Effective communication skills at all levels including executive management, peers, staff, clients and outside organization * Financial Services industry background * Proficient MS Office including MS Access
