This is probably the best quant/technology driven investment management firm in London today. They trade across all major asset classes and run mid-term and high frequency strategies. On the back of another spectacular year they are in the enviable position to be able to invest in addition headcount within their research technology group. They are looking for a mid-level (c.2-5yrs) Java developer with an expert academic grasp of computer science fundaments. This is a collegiate (jeans and T’s) environment with a flat management structure and some very interesting problems to work on with some of the brightest minds in the IM and IT space.
In brief….
Developer / Quant Developer with c.2yr to 5yrs experience
• Exceptional undergraduate degree from top university in computer Science/Engineering (ideally). Strong A level results (or equivalent) is also important.
• Technology: Core Java (with strong OOA/OOD skills). Any knowledge of Python, Ruby, and Groovy etc. would help too. They will also consider exceptionally smart candidates with knowledge of any other primary OO language.
• You will also be expected to have a sound knowledge of multithreading, socket level programming, core algorithms and data structures.
• There developers sit directly in a business unit (with access to the models and trading strategies for those that are interested.
• Prior experience within finance is NOT necessarily an advantage. They are looking for deeply technical individuals from hi-tech backgrounds such as Telecoms, Gaming, and Industrial Research/media Labs etc.
