Allison Transmission is currently looking for a Buyer - Forging at their headquarters in Indianapolis, IN. Position Description Takes the lead to quote alternative designs and solutions for Forgings. Purchases specifically assigned productive materials/parts/assemblies Delivers direct material cost reduction Develops and implements value-adding long-term commodity strategies that compliment the Allison product technology roadmaps Mitigates ??high risk ? issues in assigned commodities and associated supply chain Negotiates prices, long term agreements and terms with outside suppliers Develops and maintains reliable global suppliers Monitors and assesses supplier performance Follows market price trends and general business activities Negotiates settlements on rejected or defective materials Adheres to Global Purchasing processes policies Ensures timely delivery of materials Frequent professional contact with others outside the work group Position Requirements Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering Commodity experience in complex metallic machined components (Forgings) Strong negotiation skills High math and computer skills Understand key suppliers and manufacturing processes in the stamping supply chain Extensive experience developing strategies and conducting contract negotiations related to the purchase of all applicable components for automotive/commercial vehicle applications and remanufactured parts and assemblies Drive and determination with a sense of urgency to complete and exceed in the work Strong oral and written communications skills Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents Knowledge of commodities, materials and products being purchased Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area High analytical capability and ability to solve complex problems Appropriate interpersonal skills to work effectively with others Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management SAP Experience with a high level of computer skills Experience working in a high volume production environment (i.e., manufacturing engineering, supervision, or quality) Five+ years experience in supply chain or procurement within a manufacturing environment Click Here To Apply!
