Buyer
Principle Responsibilities:
· Solicits bid proposals and reviews requisitions for goods and services.
· Issue purchase orders (regular and blanket) in conjunction with established local and corporate purchasing approval policies.
· Issue vendor releases against blanket purchase orders in conjunction with established local and corporate purchasing approval policies.
· Follow-up with vendors on quality and delivery issues associated with purchased materials.
· Assist Accounting and Supply Chain in resolving receiving and payment issues with vendors.
· Researches and evaluates suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history
· Analyses price proposals and other data and information to determine reasonable prices
· Maintains and reviews computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories, to include vendor’s on-time delivery performance.
· Monitors shipments to ensure orders are received as required
· Traces shipments and follows up on undelivered goods
· Participate in regularly scheduled physical inventory.
· Other projects and duties as assigned by Supply Chain Manager.
Education/Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business or similar field and/or the equivalent in related experience.
Authority Level:
· Ability to halt or suspend operations based upon safety or quality concerns.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools.
· Moderate to advanced computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
· Moderate to advanced mathematical skills.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Moderate to advanced knowledge of purchasing computerized systems
