Buyer We are looking for a buyer to help coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering in a cost effective and timely manner. The successful candidate will focus in the following key areas: materials forecasting, procurement, order fulfillment, supplier and inventory management. This position will play an active role in the planning and purchasing strategies to support the overall supply chain with cost savings, on time and quality product. The c andidate must have experience in procurement and purchasing. This position requires confidence, excellent communication skills and the ability to multi task. Must also adapt well to changing priorities and work well under pressure. Basic Function The Buyer under general direction from the Materials Manager will coordinate the purchasing activities to support materials requirements to both the Manufacturing and Engineering department to ensure quality product is delivered on time to meet schedules. This individual will generate quotes, issue purchase orders and maintain all order reports. Will need to work closely with other departments and the Manufacturing Planner to ensure that all deliveries meet the required delivery dates. Primary Responsibilities · Buyer assignments will support purchasing operations with day to day PO placements and data entry, RFQ preparation, change orders, amendments and documentation in a fast faced manufacturing and RD environment. · Interface with production, sales, marketing and engineering to supply components per delivery schedule requirements · Has primary responsibility for supplier relationships, ensuring supplier quality, competitive pricing and on time delivery. · Work with A/P, suppliers and other functional groups to resolve any procurement discrepancies. · Review, expedite and track all open purchase orders to ensure timely arrival of materials supporting the manufacturing and project schedules. · Should be comfortable contacting suppliers and working through PO issues (cost, quality, scheduled deliveries). · Coordinate with MFG leads and engineers to manage discrepant material return process. · Assist in resolving physical non-conformance, commercial and delivery issues with external/internal supplier and subcontractors. · Assist Receiving Department to resolve supplier shipment discrepancies. · Reviews supplier order acknowledgements for accuracy and alignment to company?s delivery requirements. · Use EPICOR MRP system, DBWorks cad system and spread sheet tools to monitor manufacturing activities and call attention to problem areas needing resolution by Engineering or Manufacturing management. · Coordinates with Materials Manager supplier issues relating to late deliveries and cost issues. · Perform other duties as required Essential Skills · 1-3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or RD environment · Familiar with sourcing and manufacturing processes, logistics and lean manufacturing. · Must be able to effectively coordinate and communicate requirements with suppliers to ensure timely arrival of materials. Should be comfortable with expediting parts to meet manufacturing schedules. · Must have proficient PC skills and must have experience using email, internet and Microsoft applications. · Should be knowledgeable in purchasing key commodities including machining, sheet metal/fab., electronics and hardware · Must be familiar with computerized purchasing/procurements system · Must be an effective negotiator and show the ability to maintain successful strategic supplier relationships. · Knowledge and understanding in applications involving Inventory control, bill of materials, work orders and MRB. · Basic inventory and accounting knowledge is preferred · Exhibit the capacity to maintain close attention to detail and follow through on action items · High self motivation ?able to work under limited supervision, independently or in a team environment. · Ability to work well under pressure to meet specified deadlines. · Must exhibit the ability and willingness to aggressively learn new things, take the extra step and demonstrate a ?can do? attitude. · Must take responsibility for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with management, peers, suppliers and customers. · Creativity and a solid work ethic a must Education · High School Diploma or Technical degree in a related field · 2-3 years experience in a similar purchasing/materials role Physical Demands Physical demands and work environment : The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
