C++ Developer – Infrastructure recruitment

Bloomberg's Application Infrastructure group provides the GUI used by all of Bloomberg's customers and supplies over 1,500 developers with an environment for rapid application development and deployment, supporting real-time display of complex data. We provide developers with components, toolkits, and frameworks necessary for writing high-quality, easy-to-use applications and deploying them to production quickly.

We are seeking a software engineer who has extensive experience in C++ API design, and has a background with a variety of GUI toolkits and platforms, to join our London team of disciplined and creative developers in evolving our infrastructure to decrease time to market for front-end application writers and to improve the UI of Bloomberg's most important products.

Requirements

- Solid experience writing high-performance object-oriented software using the C++ programming language.
- Possess solid understanding of the properties and appropriate use of basic algorithms and data structures, including the STL.
- Solid experience of Windows development with knowledge of Win32, COM, ATL, GDI/GDIPLUS required.
- Familiarity with open source UI toolkits such as GTK or WebKit is beneficial.
- Familiarity with HTML 5, CSS 3 and JavaScript is beneficial.
- Knowledge of scripting languages and source control tools such as Subversion or Git is a plus.
- Basic expose to UNIX development is a benefit.
- No prior financial knowledge is required.
